Faith is charming, sweet, and strong-minded, she has many attributes that Valerius lost sight of once vengeance took over, the biggest being her desire to believe in people and hope for the best. She’s rambunctious to say the least and will probably never grow out of it, a spitfire if you will. She does good, although she’s not beneath a good con now and again if money’s needed. Mostly she’s impatient, but she’s the only one who would put up with Valerius, or rather she’s the only one Valerius would put up with, and she has great ideas about reforming him or at least trying to make him happy. Overall she’s the light to his dark.
History:
Faith’s mother Sarabeth was a gypsy. An outcast by nature she lived an extremely nomadic life, but she longed for the respectability and comforts of a stable living. She thought she had found such a thing in the arms of a nobleman, instead she had found deception and betrayal. He took her from her family and used her as his mistress until she became pregnant. He paid her off and was never to be heard from again. Being excommunicated from her family and everyone else she traveled, using her dancing talent, healing arts, and at times wicked expertise with a wand to get by. It wasn’t easy being a single mother but she made it work.
She traveled all over the world bringing her daughter with her, teaching her daughter how to sing, to dance, cook, fight, magic, whatever trades she thought would be beneficial. Sarabeth and her daughter settled in Macedonia, Sarabeth had been called there, or so she used to say. Faith never really understood her mother’s traveling ways but she didn’t complain, she enjoyed traveling as well. But her mother had a purpose in Macedonia although she didn’t yet know what it would be. They had lived there for nearly six months before she realized what she was to do. She had learned of the blood feud between the two families early on and had done her best to simply keep out of the way and protect her daughter. It wasn’t until she saw him that she had a vision. She was to rescue the young Lord somehow and keep him safe.
During the attack Sarabeth had hidden out watching very closely at all that happened around her. She saw him then being dragged into a different chamber and being left there. That’s when she snuck in and waited for the right opportunity to strike. She had wanted to save the girl too but it had been too late. After Valerius had passed out and the other man’s attention was diverted she delivered a quick spell to stun the man and then helped Valerius escape which wasn’t easy for a man of his size.
She brought him home and had her daughter tend to his wounds. She had another vision, one that brought her to tears, this man would cause her daughter’s death, and yet at the same time bring her daughter infinite happiness. She did not question the fates but beat her chest against what she knew must occur. As time passed and he grew healthier, her own health began to deteriorate. She knew her daughter’s wellbeing was in his hands, but he was now such a hard man thirsting only for vengeance. He did not soften to anyone or anything, but she could see the slight tenderness he had for her and her daughter alone and how he refused to admit even that. Another year and her death was imminent, as she lay in bed she summoned him.
Her final wishes were for him to take care of her daughter, to love her and protect her as his own. It was a heavy favor but she had saved his life and he agreed.
After Sarabeth died Faith clung to Valerius. She was a young girl of twelve and it was a big world for an orphan but Valerius didn’t let her down. Things had settled somewhat and they developed a routine, but the past was on their heels. Even though Valerius’ rival had destroyed his life and massacred his family, there was no rest for the wicked as he continued to pursue Valerius and Faith. Though Valerius happily would have fought to the death, his vengeance was temporarily stopped when Faith suffered an almost fatal wound at the enemy’s hand.
He decided to take her and to travel. They settled in China for a time learning ancient arts picking up trades and skills over the years.
Faith who was also a sight seer like her mother had a vision then that they were needed in England, she had always wanted to go there but he had always refused, this time business called and they left. She all of 22 and Valerius at 32 set off for the new world and a new adventure.
