Middle of the Night {open}

[Jynx Mayhem]

Jynx stuck her head around the staircase. She saw that the fire was low but everyone had gone to bed. Jynx grinned as she stepped into the common room. She was wearing some long pajama pants and a spaghetti strap shirt with a raven on her shoulder. Quickly she chose the comfiest chair right in front of the fire. She set her book down then started to stoke the fire. Once it was back to a roaring heat she curled up in the chair and started reading a muggle fairy tale book. She pushed her blond hair back and fixed her glasses for a moment.

[Sophia Stark]

Sophie entered the room stumbling at the last few steps and landing with a slight "oomph!" Getting herself upright she let loose a string of curses that wouldn't do a nun anygood before sitting down and examining her ankle, then she looked up and noticed Jynx, "Oh...hello, I'm sorry I didn't see you there." she gave a half smile, "Didn't see a lot of things apparently." she said gesturing toward the last step of the stairs.

Jynx jumped and looked towards the steps, when she saw Sophia she grinned, pushing her glasses down her nose so she could see better, "I give you an eight for the landing love." She laughed softly as she walked over and helped her up. "That's fine, I was lost in my own little world too."

[Sophia Stark]

She gave the older girl a sheepish smile, "Yeah...the last step's a tricky one. I'm sorry I didn't mean to disturb you." she said gesturing to the book Jynx was reading. She tucked her hair behind her ear before returning the hand to her other elbow in what was a solitary embarrassed stance.

"We had the same idea in mind." she said thinking that she had come to read herself, with that thought she recalled she had brought a book and it wasn't in her hands, "Oh..." she murmured glancing around for her copy of Vanity Fair.

[Jynx Mayhem]

Jynx grinned, she looked down then knelt down behind the couch and picked up her book. She read the title, "Good book." She handed her the book and grinned, waving at the seats, "There are plenty of seats near the fire. Come join me."

[Sophia Stark]

"Really?" she asked moving toward the seats near the fire. "Thank you." she smiled, "So you've read Vanity Fair?" she asked surprised once again. She really should never have been so socially awkward for the first five years of school, but she always felt that people were staring at her or worse because of who her parents were.

[Jynx Mayhem]

Jynx grinned, "Of course, I read almost every book I can get my hands onto." She curled up in her chair again, putting her glasses back on, looking at Sophia.

[Sophia Stark]

Sophia took a seat and nodded with a smile on her face, "I suppose that's something many Ravenclaws have in common." she grinned with approval, "However not many read muggle books as well." but Sophia was delighted to know that Jynx had read muggle novels, it made her feel less alone.

[Jynx Mayhem]

Jynx's eyes instantly became wide, "They're missing out. Muggle's write some of the best books," She held up hers, it was a book filled with different muggle fairy tales.

[Sophia Stark]

Sophia laughed, "Yes they are." Then Jynx held up her book and a small sad far off look came to Sophia's eyes, "My father used to read many of those to me and my mother just before bed. Sometimes I'd fall asleep and wake up later to find him reading to her still. She was a Witch, she graduated here with honors...was part of a very prominent family, and she left all of it behind to marry my father... a Muggle." she confessed the last bit but there was pride in her voice, "You see my mother had never heard any muggle fairytales before...I suppose she was just as fascinated as a child would be over the princesses and heros..."

She smiled fondly, "My mom used to say that she always felt like a princess locked in a tower before my father came a long to set her free. But looking back...I think they were both heroic in their own way...it took a lot of courage for my mother to be with my father, and my father to risk the wrath of my mother's family...I'm really quite proud of both of them."

[Jynx Mayhem]

Jynx smiled softly and cocked her head to the side, "Yeah, some parents are great heroes. My mom would tell me stories, both muggle and wizard and when she did she would control the fire and make them into pictures, as if the fire were telling the story." That spell she had mastered as soon as she entered Hogwarts. She loved telling stories with the fire. She looked at the fire and smiled wistfully.

Her father was no fire but he had been an amazing story teller, and she missed him more than she could say. The nostalgic moment passed however and she gave Jynx a wide grin, "I've never seen that done before." she confessed, curious and intrigued.

[Jynx Mayhem]

Jynx's face broke into a wide grin as she cocked her head to the side, "What story would you like to hear?" Jynx was ecstatic, no one had asked for a story in years and she missed being a good story teller. The Irish Culture Festival was soon upon her and she needed to brush up on her telling.

[Ashelia Andrezjda]

Ashelia had been unable to sleep, and her kitten had run away from her again. she chased the little cat as quietly as she could, cursing herself as the cat ran into the common room.
"Solera!" she whispered, hiding behind the wall into the common room: this was so embarressing! she heard voices behind the wall and realized she had to get her cat before she bothered someone.
very shyly she stepped out from behind the wall and bowed her head, as was customary in her country when interupting something.
"im so very sorry" she said. she walked over to her cat and scooped her up in her arms. Solera's giant grey eyes were locked on the two other two girls.
"shes always running away from me, shes such a naughty kitten." she giggled lightly, trying to make herself less embarressed.
