Once Upon a Dream (Open)

[Teagan Kelly]

Teagan sighed to herself. She was curled up in a ball in some removed armchair in a corner of the cozy common room. She was feeling overwhelmed with the conversations that had been started up around her. As a first year, she didn't know anybody here and they all seemed to know each other. She felt the beginnings of panic start up in her stomach. Who was she to believe that anyone here would take the risk and try to get to know her?
Her gaze was drawn downward once again to the book she held in her hand. The words on the page soon blurred and she started to drift off into sleep, only vaguely remembering that she was in the Common Room.

Gage thought, ever since transfering from America to London, that it would be difficult to make friends. But throughout the year, he had been proven wrong and was glad for it. Now he like to make friends with people he noticed were sitting alone, because usually, it was first and second years that hadn't really gotton a lot of people to hang out with.

He walked into the common room and noticed Teagan Kelly, a first year, curled up in a seat in the corner of the room. He hadn't noticed she was drifting off. "Heya," Gage said. "What are you up too Teagan?" he asked, smiling at her.

Teagan jumped in her seat, her head popping up. The book she had been reading slipped off of her lap and fell to the floor, unnoticed. She had been drifting into dreamland and it was a slightly unpleasant place at the moment, so she was sort of glad for the wake up call.
She looked over to see a second year, Gage Oliver, smiling at her. Her thoughts scrambled frantically, trying to wake up and recall what he had said to her.
"Um, h-hi, G-g-Gage. I was... I was reading but I guess I fell asleep. What are you doing?" she asked and then almost smacked herself.
God, Teagan, don't sound accusing or anything...

Gage smiled kindly and picked up the book Teagan dropped. "Guess it's an interresting book?" He laughed. "I mean, if your getting such a great reaction from it and all." he said.

"Nothing much, just came back from the owlery," Gage said. "Hows school been going?"

Teagan smile slightly as she accepted the book. She thought that Gage was really nice. He was taking the time to ask her about her day, something only Grandmum asked her in letters now that she was in school.

"It's really not that bad of a book... I just feel tired lately. School is.. well, it's school. I've managed to catch up on my sleep in History of Magic, though. How bout yourself?," she asked quietly, sounding embarrassed because she had realized she was rambling.

"School's been alright," Gage agreed. "I like it and all, but I could use a little time at home," Gage said. Even Ravenclaws got bored with school sometimes. "But I like the tournament thats going on this year and all, that's been fun. Have you been watching?" Gage asked curiously. "My friend Maxi is one of the champions, Hufflepuff." Gage said.

"Oh, that makes sense. I kind of understand. You know, about wanting a little time at home. But I'd prefer to stay here. I've been to watching, a little anyways. I'd probably like it better if I understood what's going on half the time," she said with a shy smile before continuing, "I hope Regina does well. She is the Ravenclaw champion, yes?"

"Yea Regina's the champion for Ravenclaw," Gage said. "I don't really know her, but she's pretty talented, that I've seen." Gage said.

"Tell you what, if its confusing, you can sit with me at the next task and I'll talk you through it." Gage offered. He usually just sat with one or two other younger Ravenclaws anway, and he knew they wouldn't mind.

She smiled at him and thought it over. Yes, that would be good. It was hard to understand. However, her thoughts took another route. Gage was friends with a lot of people. He usually sat with a few people at the tasks. Wouldn't he want to sit with them?

"Oh, I'd like that. But I heard that you sit with some other people. Won't they mind?" she asked.

He sat a bit more comfortably and placed his bag with his school books and sketch book on the floor. "It's usually just Ella, actually," Gage said after comming to think about it. "Most of my friends are in other houses, and all the houses sit together," Gage said. "She won't mind, she likes meeting new people. Do you know her? Ella Kelly, she's a third year," he offered.

She blinked, searching her mind and drew a blank. Nope, nothing.

"Uhm, no, actually, I haven't. Is she a Ravenclaw,too?" she asked curiously.

((Sorry it's so short. My mind is very tired at the moment, lol.))

Gage smiled at her. "Yea, she's a 3rd year Ravenclaw, she's pretty nice, pretty quiet like me," Gage said. "She's nice, wouldn't mind having you sit with us."

The common room seemed rather quiet that evening. He checked his watch to realize it was nearly dinner time. "Have you eaten yet?" Gage asked. "I'd be happy to walk to the great hall with you."
