Cyrus still sort of seemed out of it, but having Lina there did more for him than anything. Lina was the only thing keeping him from completely falling over. They were thankful that her brother was still keeping Mara. He knew that Mara was far to young to understand anything going on and Jensen was a Heaven send at the moment.
After he was dressed, Cyrus put his arm around Lina. He could not imagine what kind of state he would be in if she wasn't there.
Arriving at Highgate, he walked up to his father first and patted him on the shoulder and gave a very light smile to his Uncle Judah. Turning, he saw his mother as well as Riley, Geoffrey, and Hayden there. Holding onto Lina's hand, he walked over to his mother. "Geoffrey, Hayden, Riley," Cyrus said in a light solemn greeting. His attention turned to his mother. "Mum."

He noticed Ama's hands shaking, and her bracelet dangling loosely from her hand. He walked the short distance to her and held up her hand, clasping the bracelet around her wrist. Jamie had also been avoiding her slightly. He gave her a small pat on the shoulder before staring at the wall again. "Thanks Jamie," Ama said, smiling slightly and reaching out to squeeze his hand. She took a deep breath, regaining her composure. More people were ariving and she looked around and saw Geffory and Christine and Riley. Cyrus and Lina had just arrived as well, and Ama saw them with her dad. She felt a little lost, she didn't know where to go, what to do, what to say. She sort of just stood there, hoping someone would tell her what to do next.

Lillian arrived shortly after her son, she would have been there sooner, in fact she was dying to see her sister to care for her in a way that only sisters could, and a deep part of her ached for Cara, to lose a child... Lillian couldn't even think about it, losing a nephew was bad enough. The only reason she was arriving later than she wanted was her daughter, she had come back home with a changed vacant look in her eyes that terrified Lillian, she hadn't spoken a word to anyone since she'd been back.
This morning Lillian had tried to reach her daughter by bringing up Roland's funeral, going so far as to use harsh tones and even guilt, anything to bring her daughter back, but Christine seemed to have curled up inside of herself and refused to come out, it wasn't healthy and ever the mother Lillian worried.
Still she put her worry aside the instant she arrived and her eyes sought out her sister's profile, without a word she headed toward her and in a ritual as old as time itself she let the bond between sisterhood reach out and soothe Cara in whatever way she could manage, indulging in a hug. There were no words really necessary.

It was shock, so people said and Christine didn't really care enough to argue with anyone. Her self induced state of silence unnerved those around her, she could tell, and yet she didn't care about that either. Let them rationalize what she was going through by calling it shock, or grief, but the truth was there was nothing "rational" about any of this and she didn't feel up to continuing a charade of false smiles, or sharing her grief, it wouldn't make it better, and it required too much energy, instead all she could do was internalize.
Today was Roland's funeral and sadly her love for her cousin wasn't strong enough to make her attend, that wasn't true, it was simply that her anger, her grief, was so much stronger, but in fact it was love that had turned into anger and grief. That combination had overpowered the rest of what she felt, because to love, to love simply, and to simply feel the pain of that love, the pain of loss, it was just too much to handle, and she couldn't be that helpless.
As it was she felt like a timebomb just waiting to explode although she didn't know what would happen when she did, and therefore strove to keep every movement calculated, every gesture necessary, she was waiting this out, trying her best to keep herself together, destroying herself a little more everyday in a petulant anger she refused to share with anyone.

(I'm going to assume that the rest of the family that hasn't posted is already there...)
Andi had a sick feeling in her stomach as she got ready for the funeral. She hadn't felt well for a few days, actually, ever since hearing about Roland's death. It was strange, she hadn't known the man very well, but he'd had that kind of air about him that made him seem... invincible. It seemed incomprehensible that he should be gone. And so young. If he couldn't survive a fight with a single death eater, what chance did the rest of them have?
Andi sighed as she adjusted the sleeves of her black dress. Her dark hair was pulled back into a bun, and the only adornments she wore were a simple string of pearls and her wedding/engagement ring. The ring seemed to sparkle brilliantly against the somber color of her dress. It was like a beacon, calling all attention to itself. Andi wondered how Riley would feel if she saw the ring.
As she glanced down at her shoes to make sure they looked OK, her head began to spin, and the bottom seemed to drop out of her stomach. Kicking off the shoes, she turned and hurried to the bathroom to get sick. Merlin... this was really affecting her more than it should have...

Jamie held Ama's hand tight, more for her benefit rather than his own. If it had been up to him, he wouldn't have had any contact with Amandine at all, he didn't want contact with anyone at the particular moment. He wanted to sleep, although he wasn't quite sure where. School was too close to Scarlette, and home was full of even more sorrow than most people could bear. Instead, he managed to pull Amandine away from the wall and towards the front of the room. His mother, poor Cara, was in pieces. She could tell no one wanted to be here, and Jamie never made any indication on what he wanted. He placed Amandine in the seat on the aisle, in case she wanted to leave at any point. He was able to sit upright, extremely tall, on the second seat to the inside. Jamie patted Amandine's hand and hummed a few lines of a lullaby that Cara had used to sing to them as babies. Maybe some nice memories could replace the bad, and although Jamie was tone deaf, it sounded enough like the lullaby to himself. "Thing's will get better," Jamie mumbled, to Ama and to himself. "And everything will be ohkay."

All Cara needed to do was to see Cyrus, and she was on her feet, pulling her son into her arms and holding with everything she had. "I'm so sorry," she whispered to him. "I should have never wasted all that time being angry with you. I'm so sorry."
What if they had lost Cyrus during the attack? Or Jamie? She had come so close to losing all of her sons, and she did lose Roland. She was their mother, supposed to protect them, and she was failing.
Soon, though, he sister was there, and Cara felt relieved. There was at least one person who didn't hate her for insisting on this ceremony, except perhaps Hayden, bless his heart. Her sister was there entirely for her in that moment, and Cara needed it.
She hugged Lilian back, taking what comfort she could there. It was the only comfort, besides Hayden's, that she felt wasn't judging her.

It was an understatement to say that Ted was worried about her. Roland's death was causing her far more stress than he thought it should. Yes, it was sad, but they had lost Aurors before, and she never got sick over it. She didn't even know Roland that well. He came to sit his knees behind her, kissing her back and then holding her to him while she was curled over the toilet. He hated to see her like this, holding this much sorrow and being sick. He wished he could take it all away from her. "I know it's sad, love," Ted said, "But this has to stop."

Her stomach now empty, Andi turned and buried herself in his arms. "I know," she said, sniffling. "I really don't know why I've been like this. I'm sad about Roland and Riley... but it shouldn't be getting to me this way. The other day I started crying while I was teaching a class... I wasn't even thinking about it. And I can't seem to keep anything down. What's wrong with me?"

"There's nothing wrong with you, Andi," Ted assured her. He was deeply worried about her, and he might have been jealous if he were the type. But he wasn't sure why this was affecting her so much, and he was going to make her see someone if it didn't stop. A therapist, maybe? Ted wasn't sure, but he hated to see her like this.
He kissed the top of her head. "We don't have to go today, Andi. No one expects us there, and they'll understand." If it was going to affect her so deeply, he'd rather they stayed home. "We can find our own way to say goodbye, okay?"

Lillian didn't let go of her sister for the world until she was sure that Cara would feel the strength and support even if they did part, but she still held Cara's hand, "Whatever you need." she whispered in a fierce avowl of loyalty. Lillian would move heaven and earth for her sister if need be.
There had been a lot of pain in the past with tragedies that had been unfortunate and unavoidable, and while Lillian would never regret the outcome of what had happened, she couldn't help but be grateful for her sister during that hell, and now as Cara faced her own hell Lillian would be there by her side.

Nathalia arrived alone. Her mother and Anna barely knew Roland, and she swore to them she was fine to go to his funeral by herself. Funerals weren't her thing, and she really didn't like the idea of mourning the loss of someone... you needed to celebrate their life. Even saying that, she was saddened by Roland's death.
She quietly took a seat near the back. She didn't want to interrupt the family or draw attention away from them. She was simply here to say her goodbyes, and that was all.

Riley, however, noticed Nathalia's entrance, and she frowned, squeezing Geoffrey's hand involuntarily. Nathalia wouldn't remember her, but she remembered seeing the girl leaving Roland's apartment. That was the night she was practically screaming at him in the hallway of the building. She felt a flair of jealously at seeing her, but decided right away not to go see her. Nothing good could come of it.
"Can we sit down?" She whispered to Geoffrey, her eyes slowly leaving their gaze on Nathalia.

Lillian finally scanned the crowd of people who had shown up for Roland's funeral. He was well loved, she thought. Her eyes drifted slowly over her own son and her heart contracted even more, she couldn't begin to comprehend what Cara was feeling, how lost she would be if something had ever happened to Geoff. She was always so frightened for Christine and how the girl went off on reckless adventures, if this was someday to be her own fate, begrieving the loss of a child she knew she wouldn't be able to bear it.

But we should go. For Riley, at least. And the rest of the Ferreras. Please.... I can do this. Just let me get cleaned up and take a potion to settle my stomach, OK?"

Ted nodded slowly. Of course he was still worried about her, but he also knew how hard she was trying to reach out to Riley, who just seemed to pull away from everyone. It was a hard situation all the way around.
"All right, Andi. But if you feel sick or anything, or it's just too much, we can still leave. Okay?" He held her close for a moment, and then let her go so that she could clean up. It was just so strange to him that Roland's death was causing this strong of a reaction for her. He was more worried than he let on, really.

Andi was worried, too. She had just been much more emotional than usual lately, and she had no real reason why. As sad as Roland's death was, it shouldn't have affected her so badly. The mood swings were especially weird and random and didn't make any sense at all.
She gave Ted a brave smile. "I'll be OK, I promise," she said. "I just... I need to do this."
She couldn't explain why, but it seemed crucial that she reach out to Riley and try to be her friend. No one should have to go through this alone.

Sheena arrived and ran straight to Jamie and Ama, hugging each of them. She knew this wasn't easy for them, it wasn't easy for anyone. But She knew that Ama adored Roland, he was her oldest brother. Sheena felt the same way about her brothers. If she ever lost Hayden or Liam, Sheena wouldnt be able to handle it as well at Her cousins were right now.

Paige supposed that her presence here at the funeral would probably not be appreciated by the grieving family. But she was not here on business. She carried no quill or parchment or memory device. She was here, quite simply, to pay her respects. She had met Roland, after all, two years ealier. He had been so young then, barely twenty, yet he'd seemed much older than his years. She'd had a good time that night, and carried fond memories of that brief time she'd shared with him. She may have been covering the story of his death, but it ws more than a story to her. To her, it was personal.
She slipped into a seat in the back, next to a pretty blonde girl. She looked as out of place here as Paige did, and she wondered silently if she had also spent a night with Roland. But she knew better than to ask. It was not the time or place.

Ama hugged Sheena closely, but she never let go of Jamie's hand. She knew she had been distant from her cousin lately. But she knew now how important it was to keep family close, especially family who risked death everyday.
"Sheena," Ama said. "I miss you."
