"He'll come around," Ama assured Dillon. "He's just not used to the fact that I'm not 8 anymore." she sighed. "I'm doing well," Ama said. "I just got home, I saw my whole family for Christmas," she grinned. "It was, interesting to say the least." "Ahh the Ferrera family, one can only imagine," he said with a slight grin on his face. "I'm glad you had fun. I got to go see my brother and we pulled the biggest prank on my dad it ended up with him hanging my a rope from the roof," he said laughing. He looked at Ama who wasn't laughing and straightened his glasses "I uh-I guess you had to be there," he said still suppressing a chuckle. Though it was true she had to be there to get the full grasp, Ama chuckled anyway, imagining a man tricked into hanging from a doorway. She loked around, but didn't see her brother. It occured to Ama that Jamie and Scarlette could have possibly just skipped out on the ball. Crowded areas weren't really her brother's favorites anyway. "Hey, do you know how to dance?" Ama asked curiously. She vaguely remembered when Roland and Cyrus learned how when they were at school, but she could only remember practicing with them. She'd stand on their feet and they'd dance around, holding her up and she'd giggle madly.

Nolan smirked. "Yeah, they're cute." And Jeremy was going to hear all about it later. Nolan wouldn't let him go to sleep tonight without hearing a few well chosen jabs about just how cute he and Alenna were. He waved his hand towards Julia. "I'm always ready for anything," he said, giving her a smile. "Are you ready, milady?" he asked with a flair, holding his arm out for her to take. Julia laughed, loving how goofy Nolan could be. She smiled and took his arm. "Ready when you are." She replied, and the two made their way past other anxiously waiting Gryffindors toward the ball. Julia waved to people she knew, being poilte and smiling. When they reached the ball, Julia looked around excitedly at all the decorations. "Wow this place lookes good." She said smiling.

Savannah wasn't as excited about the ball as many of the other girls. It wasn't that she didn't want to go. She did. But for her the ball just wasn't quite the spectacle that it was for others. She was going with Liam Ferrera, a boy in her house and year. Everyone knew the Ferrera family; they were a good, pureblood family, and all of them were aurors.
Unlike many of her classmates, who went for frilly, puffy dresses of satin and lace, Savannah went for a drastically different look. Her dress was made of ivory-colored silk, and had a high neckline that encircled her throat with a glitttery gold band. A similar band cinched in her narrow waist. From there, the dress spilled down to her ankles in a smooth, flowing cascade of shimmering ivory silk. She accented this with gold shoes and a gold purse. Her hair was swept up in an elegant knot on the top of her head, and, against her better judgement, she even added a touch of bright red lipstick.
If the other girls looked like fairy princesses, Savannah looked every bit as sophisticated and beautiful as a Hollywood movie star. Yes, there was a part of her that feared such a shocking display of extravangance was vulgar or unladylike. There was another part of her that didn't care. She looked beautiful, and for once, she knew it.
She wondered what Cameron would think.
Shutting that unwelcome thought out of her mind, she walked down the stairs to meet Liam.

The problem with having three school aged sisters was that Jadon couldn;t take each of them as his date. This meant, of course, that there were at least two boys he was going to have to keep his eye on. It was an impossible task.
He was almost pacing as he stood in the entrance hall, watching for any one of his sisters, but for Kassia in particular. So far, none of them had come up. Or if they had, he'd missed them. He already knew that each of them would be so downright beautiful tonight that he wasn't sure how he was going to handle having other teenage boys look at them. His protective instincts were already kicking into overdrive.

Natasha's eyes flashed upwards almost like a startled colt, but there was nothing vulnerable in her expression. On some subconscious level she responded to his voice and a thousand chills raced down her spine. Perhaps she had simply been on edge since the attack, but there was something deep and resonant in his tone that caused her no little amount of anticipation or nervous energy.
What a peculiar feeling...
She closed her eyes for a moment then opened them and they were clear of whatever strange entrancement she had previously. In it's place was the carefully constructed mask of proper ettiquette and years of breeding. She knew this person, although she couldn't put her finger on it exactly she had seen him before.
Of course that was Gwen standing next to him, and therefore she assumed that he was a pureblood, Gwen's father would have it no other way. Then it clicked, this was Justin Scotts. She had seen him before numerous times even at one event or another, she was sure they had talked in the past, he obviously remembered her. She was flattered. Before she could stare much longer she made a proper curtsy and lowered her eyes, "Thank you." she said sweetly before looking back up at him.
Then she addressed his date, naturally Slytherins weren't supposed to get along with Gryffindors, but she never had anything against Gwen, especially since she hailed from one of the more prominent names like herself. "Gwen, you look absolutely stunning tonight." then glancing between them she smiled "Your brother appears to be more considerate than mine. I was supposed to meet him here tonight."

Fee and Allaire were already enjoying themselves, they had in all likelihood found a way of getting around their brother and his overprotectiveness while Kassia would embrace it. Strangely she had no desire to date, or to flirt, or any of it.
She was very dutiful to her family, and she'd do anything to please them, if this made her a frigid ice queen then so be it.
She took her time getting to the hallway using that unhurried grace. When she saw Jadon his back was to her, she paused in her steps, " You certainly know how to make a girl feel self conscious." she teased. She could just anticipate how many girls would ooh and sigh over her brother, inwardly she rolled her eyes, but she was proud as well.

Thane rushed down to the ground floor. Leo had left him in his shoeless state a while ago, and Thane was almost frantic now. Had the champions already gone in? Was Regina forced to walk in alone because he was too absent minded? He nearly collided with a couple as he rounded the corner towards the staircase, and he called out an apology over his shoulder. And then... there she was. She was alone outside the ballroom, and obviously waiting for someone... him. He felt terrible, and by the time he presented himself in front of her, he was a little out of breath, both from the run and how stunning she looked. "Regina," he said. "I'm so sorry. Am I too late? I couldn't find my shoes, anywhere, and you look amazing." Regina let out a quite giggle whenever Thane appeared. His words seemed rush and she couldn't help it. "No, you're not late and thank you." A light blush rose on her cheeks. She reached up and fixed the jacket he was wearing and sorted out his hair. "You look quite nice yourself. And you know if you would have called for me, I would have helped you find them, that wouldn't have been a problem." Her worries about dancing were almost gone. It was the fact she had to dance in front of other people that worried her. "But I'm glad you're here."

For a fling, they were perfect for each other. Brenda probably encouraged his fear of intimacy, which he wasn't even 100% sure he had. He just didn't see why he should settle into a long term relationship when he was still just 17. "Hold on," he said, pausing and shaking his head. "Wait right here." Being quick, he ran upstairs and discarded his robes and very quickly changed into a pair of muggle slacks, a button down shirt, and suspenders. He looked sharp, but at least he would blend in just a bit more with Brenda's unconventional look. Rushing back down the stairs, he smiled at her and put his hand on her back and walked next to her as they made their way down to the ballroom. If she was going to cause a scandal, he wanted to be there when it happened. He wanted to be a part of it, even. While they climbed the stairs to the first floor, Cameron got glimpses of the other students all dressed up, and he caught himself wondering what Savannah would look like all dolled up. Brenda smiled approvingly at his change of wardrobe. "Nice," she said. "Now let's go show the princes and princesses how it's done." As they made their way down to the Great Hall, the ridiculous display of frills and ruffles and lace was nearly enough to make Brenda ill. Like many of these other girls, Brenda had been raised in wealth and privilege and was as close to being a princess as any of them. But that was child's play in her eyes. Why be a princess when you can be a queen? And why be a queen when you can be a goddess? They descended the last stair and saw the crowd in the hallway, many of them meeting their dates. By this point, Brenda barely noticed the other girls in their poufy concoctions, but something caught her eye. She turned and caught a glimpse of subtle, shimmery ivory silk. Almost unconsciously, Brenda's eyes narrowed. She recognized the girl, although her appearance was dramatically different. The mousy Ravenclaw girl that was the sister of Cameron's friend had transformed into a sophisticated, elegant young woman who looked decidedly different from the poufy princesses around her. Brenda hated her instantly.

Justin couldn't quite seem to take his eyes from her. She was stunning, and so very different from how she had looked the last time he'd seen her. Then, her cheeks had been flushed and her eyes wide with fear and indignation. Her hair had been messy and she had smudges of dirt on her face. And yet, she had still been beautiful.
He tightened his grip on Gwen's hand, and had to physically restrain himself from going to her and kissing her again. Instead, he only smiled and nodded his head slightly. "Anyone that would stand you up is a fool," he said. "Please, Miss Davenport, promise me you will favor me with a dance before the end of the night?"

Natasha adopted the proper flush to her cheeks to the point where it was just becomming and not embarrassing as she was to appear flattered not shocked. Though a part of her was indeed surprised. It wasn't that she wasn't, as he said, lovely, or that he shouldn't want to dance with her, it was simply that he had never paid much attention to her in the past, and he certainly wasn't one of her conquests.
No she was smarter than that, Justin was in the five percent category of men she wouldn't want to manipulate, there was something decidedly dangerous about him, attractive yes...but dangerous, perhaps that was part of the attraction.
"It would be an honor." she said once more assuming the propper nod with lowered eyes.

A small group of girl had gotten ready for the ball together, Lyra included mostly because Samantha pleaded for her to be there. The other girls, Lyra felt, were jealous of her and therefore not her friends. But she did it for Samantha, she did practically anything for that girl. But as the group headed down together to the Grand Ballroom, Lyra stayed behind telling them she'd meet up with them in a few minutes. A few minutes turned to much longer than she had expected and she found it was because of her nerves. As confident as Lyra was, she wanted to make sure she looked extra special for Ethan. And since they had agreed to meet at the ball, she didn't worry about being fashionably late. Though, by the look of the clock now she was pushing it.
Dressed in a long evening gown of deep purple, she ascended the stairs. Her hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail with long tendrils framing her face that bounced as she walked. With every step she took the noise of the crowded party grew louder until she was finally at the cusp of the ballroom. Instantly she spotted the blond head of Ethan across the room. He was with his sister, of course, and someone else Lyra didn't recognize. She inhaled deeply and made her way to them, then tapped Ethan on the shoulder as she approached him from behind.

Lyla noticed Lyra right away and gave her a small wave. Ever since the attack and their mutual fear for her brother she had accepted Lyra and allowed herself to like the girl.
"Merlin you look so pretty." she said in her uninhibited way. Lyra did look stunning after all, and womanly too, in a way that Lyla was sure she herself would never be able to pull off. Well maybe... if she was a really good girl.
She grinned, " Lyra this is Victor Alvarado." she said introducing Vic to her brother's date.

Rose had worked hard along with the rest of the staff who were to decorate for the Yule ball, of course she had minimal say in what went where, and most of it was done with magic in the first place, but that didn't mean she didn't go around and perfect every small decoration like the perfectionist she was.
This ball meant so much for the students, after the horrible attack at Hogsmeade this was the first big event, and it needed to be perfect. Rose was determined not to let anything bother her that night.

Jeremy laughed. "No, not really," he said. "She was unusually calm for a change. I was just anxious to see you. And you really are worth the wait. I'm really glad we decided not to go with the covered in mud idea.... although I still think you looked beautiful covered in mud." He held out his hand to her and gave a grandiose bow. "My lady, I would be glad to escort you to the ball," he teased. "Shall we?" Alenna smiled and took his hand. "We shall," she said, and she and Jeremy began their way to the Yule Ball. There were lots of people in the entrance hall, either with their dates or waiting for them. She looked around and saw the faimilar faces of her schoolmates. "This is going to be fun," she said squeezing Jeremy's hand in excitement.

This ball meant so much for the students, after the horrible attack at Hogsmeade this was the first big event, and it needed to be perfect. Rose was determined not to let anything bother her that night. Connor had on a pair of dress robes, brand new from Madam Malkins. He never thought he would need dress robes, so they were still a little stiff from starch, or the magical equivalent. He cleaned up well, but that mischevious smirk brought him back down to earth, and would have made both Rose and Gwen roll their eyes at him. At least he didn't disappoint. "Rose... how am I supposed to sweep you off your feet if you don't wait for me?" he teased her, finally catching up to her outside the ballroom. "You certainly know how to put a guy in his place. And you look... stunning."

Rose did look as Connor supplied, stunning, not that she noticed it. While she was comfortable in her robes, and also felt in place wearing shorts and a t-shirt she looked as if she belonged in expensive gowns. The one she was sporting was a white ball gown, the top portion was corseted, and had sleeves that fell just off her shoulders, over the white was a sheer deep crimson fabric that cinched to the side of her waist, and about a thousand small decals and gems that made her seem royal.
Her parents, unable to spoil her as much as they would like with her being away from home so often, jumped on the chance to send her to the ball in style. While they weren't considered anything in the Wizarding world, with other muggles they were very well to do, what with them both being accountants and extremely financially savvy.
She laughed at Connor over her shoulder, " Don't you know you swept me off my feet ages ago?" she asked, "Besides I had to make sure everything was in order...isn't it grand?" she asked pride tinged with a bit of insecurity seeking his approval.

He was the only boy in sight dressed in muggle clothes, next to the only girl wearing something so short, and he was just having fun with it. His eyes followed Brenda's gaze until they landed on a face he knew well. Even he could barely recognize her, though, and when he did, he felt a ball of jealousy flair in his stomach. Who was she waiting for? Who had she dressed up so prettily for? "Hey, I'll be right back," he told Brenda, leaving her side as he approached Savannah. The effect was almost humbling for him. He felt like a commoner, some sort of... well, a ruffian from the street approaching a princess. What was he even doing? "Savannah," he said, catching her attention. "You look very pretty." ((I'm pretty much picture Jack and Rose from Titantic, ha ha!))

Jonesy noticed one girl enter the hall and then stood up straight. She wore a mask, but he was sure he had never met the girl before. He watched her for a moment; in all her grace, he was surprised that she stood away from the crowds of people. He decided to introduce himself; it wasn't like he was doing anything exciting anyway, just watching, looking maybe to see if his buddy Roman was around. So he walked over to where she was and smiled, making a little graceful bow. "Hi," Jonesy said. "I don't think we've met, I'm Jonesy Duggan." he said politely, smiling and stepping closer, but not invading her space. It didn't occur to her that people wouldn't know who she was. Well of course that occured to her, people generally didn't know who she was, however she assumed that people she had interacted with in the past would know indeed that it was her underneath the mask and the dress. Apparently it wasn't so. Then again how could someone like Alyx afford such a dress, or the pins in her hair, or any of it really. Alyx didn't look like this. She had never been this neat or put together in her entire life. She wasn't lil ol Alyx anymore, she was indeed Alyxandria, which was a name fit for a queen. Tonight she decided she would play the part, if Jonesy didn't know her, then she wasn't giving anything away. "My pleasure." she said softly, her voice even different than usual, no slow drawl, she was a lady tonight in every sense of the word. It was her eyes that sparked some familiarity in Jonesy, but he just couldn't place how he knew he knew her. "Well might I say, whoever is your date tonight is the luckiest guy at the ball. You're exquisit." Jonesy said. It was true, he'd never lie. With three older sisters and his mother, Jonesy knew how to find beauty in every woman he met, which, occasionally made him become somewhat of a flirt, but he was straightening out lately. The girl in front of him though, he didn't need to look hard. Everything he saw standing in front of her seemed like the angels in heaven themselves put her together for tonight.

"And yourself? Who are you escorting this evening?"

Savannah had been scanning the crowds in search of Liam. He was a quiet boy, and he made her seem a regular chatterbox. It actually still amazed Savannah that he'd even asked her to go to the ball. It might have been the most she'd ever heard him say.
At the sound of Cameron's voice, she turned, momentarily startled. Then the ice princess mask fell back down across her features as she looked at him in muggle clothes. Curse her wicked mind for noticing how well the muggle clothes seemed to fit his body.
"Cameron," she said, greeting him coolly. "Thank you, it's very kind of you to say. You look... very handsome."
Her tone might have seemed judgemental, especially with the slight pause. But despite the fact that he was not wearing dress robes, the honest truth was that he did look very handsome. His date would be a lucky woman.
