Ama smiled brightly as her mother held Mara. No one could resist Mara, she was too cute for that. Ama let out a little, inaudible sigh of relief. It was a start to say the least, she wished Jamie was here to see this.
She looked around. Where was Jamie, anyway?

Roland couldn't help but smile as Cyrus took Mara and handed her to his mother. It was obvious, just by the expression on her face, that his mother was instantly charmed by Mara... and how could she not be? Mara was a beautiful baby.
He took a few steps back, allowing his mother to have her time with the baby. He found himself standing next to Riley, and he turned to look at her. "I think my mother is going to kill me for inviting Lina," he commented with a wry grin. "But I'm still glad I did it."

Mara watched as the Light Lady's expression turned from anger to calm. Mara reached up very slowly and put a palm on each cheek, spreading out each finger to cover as much territory as possible with her small hands. She leaned up and pressed her forhead to the Light Lady's neck slightly, as she was used to doing with Ma. Ma smelled like home, and comfortable. The Light Lady wasn't so much comfortable, but she smelled like something had just come out of the oven. Maraclosed her eyes and was suddenly very aware of the eyes upon them. She stiffened slightly.

Scarlette smiled and shook her head at his comment about lakes. "That's not funny," she told him, despite her smile. She was more curious about his family the more he talked about them, and the only one she met was Amandine. According to Jamie, there would be a whole slew of others there tonight. Bravely, she nodded. "I'm sure. Are you sure?" "Definately not, that's why I'm asking you," he smirked, but non-the-less, he pulled the door open quietly, not wanting to knock. Home was a place to be unformal, although he doubted that would be the case at this particular dinner. He swallowed slowly, and was glad to see everyone in the next room. His mother was holding Mara. It didn't seem to be like a very comfortable situation.

Roland turned at the sound of the door opening, and spotted Jamie walking in with a girl at his side. His movements still seemed a bit slow, after his injuries, and he seemed a bit hesitant. But Roland was glad to see him walking around. "Jamie!" he said, greeting him. "I'd like you to meet my work partner, Riley. You met once before... but not under the best of circumstances."
They had, of course, met during the Hogsmeade attack, although there certainly hadn't been time for introductions that day. "Riley, this is my brother Jamie."

Jamie shot a grateful glance at Roland, glad he was disregarding the obvious discomfort that Jamie had with the predicament. He gave a small lopsided smile to Riley and held out his hand, "hey. Thanks for putting up with Roland." As serious as he sounded, Jamie was kidding, and shot another glance at Roland, although this one was amused.
"This is Scarlette," he stepped aside, and presented her. "She's, uh. Well. She's Scarlette." He wasn't quite used to saying the term 'girlfriend' yet.

Judah chuckled lightly as Suri came down the stairs. He was always amazed at the sight of his wife, no matter what happened. "Well, don't you look lovely," he complimented with a smile. He took a few steps toward her and put his arm around her. "Children? Are you about ready to go to Mathieu and Cara's," he called up the stairs. He looked back to Suri, seeing that she was wearing the necklace he gave her as an early Christmas present. Judah was going to surprise Suri and give that to her on Christmas, but she had insisted, well more like continued to hint, that she had wanted something early and Judah gave into her desires. After he gave her that, he went out and bought her something else to surprise her with. Suri gave him a big smile, incredibley happy with her life, "thanks, Jude." She kissed his cheek lightly and wrapped both her arms around his chest. "You look like you're on your way to a ball." She said, serious for the most part, only joking because she loved fairytales and felt as if she was in one. "Thank you for the early Christmas gift." She laughed goodheartedly, "I know I wasn't exactly patient..." The necklace had a little charm that made her smile whenever she had walked by it, and she fell in love with it almost immediately.

Ama saw Jamie walk in and left her mother, brother, and niece in their own awkward situation and ran toward Jamie. "Jamie!" Ama squealed, grasping onto him and the pair nearly fell to the floor, making Ama giggle. "Merry Christmas," she laughed.

He laughed. "Well, I attempt to clean up good every now and again." Judah wasn't dressed exactly formal, he was just wearing nicer clothes than he usually wore. "And you're welcome. I kinda knew that you were going to want your gift early, so I made sure to plan ahead." He gave her a wink. "Besides, I thought that you would like to wear the necklace to the Mathieu's since I know you have been talking about needing a nicer necklace." Judah leaned down and kissed Suri's head.

Sheena brushed of imaginary dust on her red plaid top and black dress pants before looking in the mirror. "Perfect," she smiled, exiting her room and heading toward the stairs. Before she reached the stairs though, she knocked on Liam's bedroom door. "Liam, you ready?" Sheena asked.

"She barely puts up with me," he said, giving her a sideways glance. Oh, if Jamie had any idea how true that was. It had been... what? Fifteen minutes since the two of them had been at each other's throats. He refused to think about the rest of it right now. Instead he turned his attention to the girl with Jamie. "It's nice to meet you, Scarlette. I'm Roland, Jamie's big brother."

Riley was taking in the whole situation. The tension between Cara and Lina was hard to miss, and she wondered what Roland's relationship with Lina was like... how close they were, she meant. There was another tension, though, between Cyrus and Lina, and her attention went to the baby, whom she felt immidiately sorry for.
The rest was all kind of rushed when Jamie entered, and she returned the sentiment of it being nice to meet him. She said hello to Scarlette as well, and laughed at Jamie's words. Roland's response sobered her. It had been fifteen minutes since they had been at each others throats AND practically in each other's throats.
"It's a hard job," she said. "But they pay me well."

Scarlette felt out of place almost instantly. She wished she didn't, but they all got along so perfectly that she just felt like an outsider. Maybe they should have tried to escape.
As Roland introduced himself, Scarlette's nose scrunched a little. "Oh. I had you confused with his younger brother." She was joking, but her humor tended to be a lot more sarcastic than people expected, and it got her into trouble sometimes. "It's nice to meet you," she added, then sort of repeated it to the rest of the room.
Ama seemed to come out of nowhere, and Scarlette let go of Jamie's hand, wincing as he was tackled. She hoped that didn't hurt him too much.

There was a lot of sudden commotion, and Cara knew that Jamie had just come home, the girl in tow, but she was transfixed by the baby, and she felt the girl stiffen. All the attention was on Jamie now, so it was just her and Mara.
"It's okay," Cara whispered, making sure that Jamie was busy so she wasn't ignoring him. "You're home now. You're fine."

Roland gave a crooked grin at Scarlette's comment. He was not generally offended by people with a sarcastic sense of humor, since he was the same way. His sense of humor sometimes put people off, because it wasn't always clear when he was joking.
"I like this girl," he said, giving Jamie a smile. "Welcome, Scarlette. Why don't you come have a seat by the fire?"
He shot another look at Riley, wondering what she was thinking about as she met his family. The Ferreras could be a little overwhelming at times, just because there were so many of them. And there were still a lot of people left to arrive. He wondered if all the family closeness was weird for her, since she wasn't close to her own family.

Jamie intercepted Ama, incredibley glad they didn't fall over. She was getting a little to tall to tackle him, and he made a mental note to tell her that later. "Hey, Ama," he winced slightly, giving her a big hug. He stood quietly as Scarlette made fun of Roland, which made Jamie laugh quietly behind her. "I like her too." Jamie mumbled in response.
As Roland offered Scarlette a seat by the fire, Jamie led her there in a normal pace, deciding that sitting down would cause a lot less attention if they were sitting down. "Are you ohkay?" He asked her quietly as he sat down, looking up at her. "We can still leave."

Mara looked up at the Light Lady in curiosity. The Lady hadn't been very nice to Ma, but here she making Mara feel a lot better. The attention had been turned towards Tall Man, of whom Mara had met a few times. But Mara would see him later. Right now, Mara wanted to know a little bit more about Light Lady. Mara's hand wandered around her face, touching her nose and lips and forehead, quirking her head this way and that. Her face was smooth and kind, but there were lines by the corners of her eyes. Did she worry a lot? Mara wondered before mumbling very quietly to herself in her own childlike language about the resemblences between the Light Lady and her Man.

Ama followed the others to the fire place where Jamie and Scarlette had taken a seat. "Hi, I'm Amandine," she said, smiling at Scarlette. "Its nice to meet you," finally, she added in her head.

Scarlette smiled as Roland appearantly approved of her, and then Jamie agreed. "I should hope you like me," she told him. Just knowing he was there made her more comfortable, which was odd for her. She was used to just walking into a room like she owned it. She was a Gryffindor, afterall.
Following Jamie to the seat, she smiled down at him and nodded slightly, silently assuring him that she was fine. It was just a family get together... she could handle it. Hoping to make him smile, she said, "This must be what you feel like looking at me all the time." She was referencing their height difference when Ama came over, and Scarlette turned.
"Hi Amandine. It is really nice to meet you. Jamie talks about you all the time."

James frowned at the mention of their children. "I honestly don't know," he said. "I wasn't going to rush them." In fact, he thought about cancelling, but he knew that Lillian wanted to see her family, and truth be told, it would probably do Christine some good. "I'll go check on them, though," he offered, looking to see if she wanted him to. Lillian knew they were running late, but not so late that dinner would have started already so she still was in favor of going. She hadn't seen her sister in a long while or her nieces and nephews, besides it was Christmas, it was time to bond together as a family especially after those attacks. She turned and brought her chin up to look at her husband, she was about to thank him but instead her eyes caught his and as it often did, time slowed and a single thought ran through her head. I married the greatest man in the world. That thought was usually accompanied by soft memories of their past and a warm look entered her eyes before she could remember what he was talking about. When she did remember she nodded, " Thank you James."
