"You see, there's this woman," Christopher began, "that has me completely intrigued. I just met her last night, but I want to get to know her better before I have to sail away. She seems to have me in some kind of trance and I really don't want to wake up from it. She makes me smile a lot more than I usually do around anyone else. Not to mention, she's making me go places, but I'm not complaining about that one bit."
He looked down at her with a wink. "And that is what is keeping me a little longer." Christopher opened the door to the restaurant and led her to an empty table. "Does that help you anyway," he asked pulling out her chair.

Woman? She huffed at first until he began to describe their encounter, and all the fight went out of her. She was feeling deliciously warm when he pulled the seat out for her, " Thank you." she said smiling up at him.
"Help me?" she asked forgetting all about her plans to seduce him rather she thought that she was being seduced.

He made sure that she was in her chair before he took a seat across the table. "Yes, you asked the reason I was staying a little bit longer and I told you. I was just asking if that really answered your question." Christopher smiled at her and looked down at the menu. He already knew what he was wanting but he thought that he would be giving Andrea as much time as she needed to look over the menu, rather than feel rushed.
"And I do have to thank that woman very gratefully," he added with a smile still on his face as he looked over at her.

She shook her head at him, " A girl could get used to compliments being around you." she said attempting to control her blush but failing anyway.
She bit her lip in indecision as she looked over the menu for what was there to be had. "You've been here before?" she asked although it was more a statement since she had heard him admit as much earlier.
"You said pancakes were good?"

"Well, the compliments are well deserved," he said noticing her blush.
Christopher looked back down to the menu. "Yes, I've been here a few times," he said. "And the pancakes are good. Especially with the maple syrup that they will bring you." The last time he was in there was with Christine, which reminding him that he should owl her. He kept his personal owl on the ship so that he could send her letters, keeping her updated.
"While we are out, do you want to stop at the dressmakers? Of course it could be after we walk around. I have to pick up a couple of dresses for my niece."

Her expression dimmed a little at his questioning. She had eagerly been looking forward to going to the dressmakers before but upon arriving she had gone into several boutiques and found that the snobbery of the store owners knew no bounds. Then again she had looked like a ragamuffin when she first walked in. They had probably assumed she might have stolen something, it completely took out the joy for her that she had so eagerly expected and hoped for.
"I'm not much of a fan for Dress shopping but I don't mind waiting for you while you pick something out for your niece."

He thought about buying her a few dresses as well. Of course, it could be a surprise but he would have to find the ones that she really liked first.
"You could even help me pick a couple out," Christopher offered with a smile. His smile said that he was thinking other just getting his niece something. "But of course, that can wait until this evening, after we've done a bit of sight seeing and that sort of thing. Sound like a plan to you?"

Andrea nodded and took another glance downward, she'd have the pancakes she decided then set down her menu. She smiled and took a sip of water, " It sounds grand." she said, her eyes sparkling. It really did sound grand to her, even if she had to go dress shopping she'd get to spend the whole day with him, that was too much to pass up.

The way her eyes sparkled like that, Christopher swore that he felt his knees shake, but in a good way. That was a first time anything like that ever happened.
The waiter appeared, ready to take their orders. "I would like a glass of orange juice, along with a stack of buttermilk pancakes, please," said Christopher politely. As the man looked to Andrea, Christopher cleared his throat loudly to get the waiter's attention. He gave him a meaningful look. "What would you like," Christopher asked Andrea turning to her with a softened look.

Andrea was oblivious to the reaction she caused both now and last night. When she had been younger her parents and their friends all remarked how she would look like her mother and be a beautiful girl even with her father's stubborn chin. Still she had been masquerading as a boy for so long it was hard to fathom herself any kind of pretty.
She blinded with a smile and perhaps that's why the waiter was staring at her, she simply didn't know her affect on anyone, she herself seemed so unaffected in an innocent way, " I'll have the same." she told him happily then returned her attention to the captain. Subtly her eyes softened and it was a look she was beginning to hold just for him.

The waiter scribbled down what they wanted and then disappeared to the kitchen with their order. Christopher glanced across the table to Andrea. He could get used to being sat across from her at the table. In fact, he could get used to being in her company a lot more. So far, she was pleasant to be around and she made him feel like no other. He didn't feel like he was just a captain on a ship coming into port for a day. He felt a lot more than that, but he wasn't sure how to describe it.
"You know, you're the first girl, that is not family, that I've had breakfast with in awhile," he said honestly. "I thank you for wanting to go out again."

She chuckled a bit at his statement. She had breakfast with him everyday. Though sometimes he would look at her and her stomach would do funny things to the point where eating was more of a chore, but he always made her sit and eat her entire plate, the dictates for a growing "boy".
She nodded, "Well I'm honored to be invited."

"And I've been thinking," began Christopher. "I know that you're not going anywhere special, so would you like to catch a ride on the ship? The crew wouldn't mind it. They're all pretty nice people. And you don't have to give me your answer right away, just think about it."
He wasn't going to rush her into answering the question, hence why he went ahead and asked her about going with him, rather than wait until later and have her feel like she was being pressured.

She paused in what she was doing as he asked her that question, she didn't even look up at him her entire body froze, it was much too soon she thought to herself. Finally her eyes trailed up to his, "You're asking me to go with you?" her voice shook a little and she couldn't seem to steady it. He didn't let people on his ship often certainly not for voyages unless they could help with the work, or they were his niece and she too helped with the work, all Andrea seemingly had to offer was herself.

Once Christopher noticed that she froze, he bit the inside of his cheek. Maybe he shouldn't have asked. Maybe he should have waited for awhile. He could have owled her everyday and then later, he could have asked her to go with him one day.
All the 'maybes' entered his mind and he did the best he could to push them out. "I didn't know if you wanted to catch a ride back or not. I mean, we still have to finish the trip and deliver the cargo, but after that we would be going back home. I wasn't sure if you had a way to go or not." Christopher was almost stumbling over his words for once in his life.

She almost smiled at his attempt to redeem himself. He was nervous. She couldn't believe it but her captain was nervous. That information filled her with a giddy sense of awe.
"I'm going to have to think about it of course." she told him with the proper amount of demureness but inside she was reveling, she was going home with the Captain, not as a cabinboy but as...well what would she be to him? She tilted her head in contemplation until she realized she didn't really care what she was to him, if he could care about her that would be all that mattered.

"Of course," he replied, still nearly stumbling over his words. "That's why I thought I would ask you in advance, so that you could think rather than feel like I pressured you into something." Christopher realized that he was probably babbling again and he stopped talking for a moment. There hadn't been a girl that he had met that made him stumble over his words. Usually, he was pretty good at this sort of thing.
About that time, the food arrived and Christopher quickly thanked the waiter and started on his pancakes. He had to change to topic somehow or another. "Of all the places you have been, what is your favorite," he asked after swallowing what he was chewing.

She simply kept looking at him unaware that he had moved the topic, she couldn't believe he was asking her to go with him, nor could she believe he was stumbling over his words, it was just so different for him and she didn't quite know how to respond or how it made her feel, she suddenly wanted to confess the lot of it to him and beg him for mercy beg him to take her anyway, beg him to save her, but she couldn't do that. She didn't have a clue how he would react neither did she think that he would be in a forgiving mood once he found out who she was. She took a deep breath, " I...I like England...but it's home...I haven't been home in a very long time." she answered honestly and then blinked at herself, she knew what was wrong now, she was feeling guilty about the deception. Oh she hadn't lied to him, not really, except as his Cabin boy...the biggest lie being she wasn't a boy. She now had the urge to be nothing but honest and the fact that she couldn't be was actually rather painful.

"I'm rarely stay for long periods of time in England. I go and visit family for a couple days, then I'm back out again. There's nothing really there that's holding me back from leaving again." Christopher was rarely at home. A week was just about as long as he really stayed home. There was nothing there keeping him there for a long period of time. He wouldn't mind settling down sometime in the future.
"But I don't think that England has changed too much. It still is pretty much the same."

She never went ashore when they were in England she was worried that someone would notice her and bring news to her uncle and well that would have been disastrous. She nodded, "I'd like to go home someday..." her eyes lowered she didn't want to talk about home and wasn't certain why she brought it up.
"Where are you headed?" she asked already knowing but asking all the same.
