Madam Pomfrey finished the patient she had been working on and took a look around. There were people everywhere. Patients, family members, friends... the room was getting quite crowded, and there were no more empty beds. And there was a chance things would only get worse.
Quickly, Madam Pomfrey performed a spell that would magically enlarge the size of the room, so that it was now twice as big as it normally was. The spell also doubled the number of empty beds. She only hoped she would not need that many.
Spotting Nolan laid out on a couple of chairs, Madam Pomfrey levitated the injured boy over to one of the newly-created beds, then went over to treat his head injury.

Ethan had helped lie Nolan on a make shift bed of chairs, and was then taken away, apperently injured, by his sister. Ju made a mental note to thank him later, after they knew that Nolan was okay.
Until a bed was free, Nolan would have to lie on the chairs. Julia crouched next to Nolan, near his head, and brushed some of his hair - sticky with blood - out of his face. "Come on, wake up Nolan..." Julia said.

Alenna stood behind Julia and was the first to see Madame Pomfrey come toward them. Because of Nolan's head injury, Alenna wasn't sure if it was wise to move him to one of the newly vacated beds.
As Madame Pomfrey checked on Nolan, Alenna turned to Jeremy and took his hand in hers. "Are you okay?" she asked. Nolan was Jeremy's best friend, Alenna knew it had to be difficult for Jeremy seeing Nolan in this state.

Jeremy was scared, but somehow, seeing Nolan injured had triggered an inner strength he didn't know he had. He was used to Nolan being the strong one, and Jeremy being the nervous one. But Nolan was unconscious... and it was Jeremy's turn to be strong.
Squeezing Alenna's hand, he gave her a shaky smile. "Yeah, I'm OK," he said. "Don't worry about me me. Nolan's the one who deserves our attention right now."

"Yea, I know," Alenna said, looking back to Nolan, who was still under the careful care of Madame Pomfrey. "Madame Pomfrey's got him though, I'm sure Nolan will be fine." Alenna's free hand was resting on Julia's shoulder. She looked back to Jeremy. "I was just making sure."

The noise and commotion in the hospital wing wasn't there when Dean brought Jackie. She was lucky that she was one of the first inside. It was complete chaos now, and that was what pulled Jackie back to consciousness. The pain that made her delerious and not coherent was now just a dull ache everywhere, but the noise was overwhelming, and he eyes opened.
There were people everywhere, moving all around, and it scared her. She was finally seeing the devestation that Dean rescued her from.
Dean.
She looked at him quickly, her face unreadable.

Nolan didn't wake up until Madam P moved him to a bed, and even then, his response time was slow and he felt sluggish.
He didn't know how he got here, but he recognized Julia right off, and knew that he was going to be in major trouble for this.
"There was Kriptonite," he murmured, smiling weakly for sake.

Cara collapsed into her husband's arms. She could barely breathe, two of her children lying in hospital beds, and one unaccounted for. She was terrified for Roland, terrified for Jamie and Cyrus. This wasn't supposed to happen, not to the children. The worst thing a parent could go through was watching their child suffer, and it killed her.
"Mathieu," she whispered, unable to hold her tears back. She was silently begging her husband to make this all disappear and to fix it, and she was trembling at the thought that Roland could be lying someone, dead, or that Jamie might never wake up.

"Okay..." she sobbed. Ama followed Liam out into the hallway. Unlike the Hospital Wing, the hall was quite empty and there were hardly any people around. Ama leaned against the wall oppisite of the doorway and slid down to the floor, still crying. "Jamie wasn't supposed to get hurt..." she whispered. "He...he was supposed to...to come back with...with me," she couldn't even form a complete sentence she was so hysterical. "Hey, shhh," Liam said, going to his cousin and holding her. This was hard on everyone, but he hated to see this look in her eyes. He was lucky, but it didn't seem fair that no one in his family was hurt, though he didn't know where his mother was, and hers seemed everyone was hurt, just about. "This isn't your fault, Ama, and blaming yourself won't help. I'm here... it's okay. I'll make sure Jamie is fine... I promise."

Mathieu's heart was breaking as well. Two of his sons were severely injured, a third was missing, and Cara was falling apart. But he needed to be strong, for her. So he clung to the thought that Roland was fully trained as an auror, and Amandine had last seen him unharmed. He had to be OK. He refused to believe otherwise.
"Shhhh... it's OK. It's going to be OK," he whispered to his wife, easing her down into a chair next to Jamie's bed. "They're all going to be fine. They have to be."

He didn't know how he got here, but he recognized Julia right off, and knew that he was going to be in major trouble for this. "There was Kriptonite," he murmured, smiling weakly for sake. Madame Pomfrey moved Nolan to a spare bed and Julia followed, staying close to Nolan's side. It had been a while and the effects of the day had started to ware on Ju, and she was tired. But when Nolan finally spoke, Julia was suddenly awake. "Kriptonite?" Julia half laughed. She vaguely remembered her dad talking about some muggle comic book when she was little. "Like, Superman's weakness?" she laughed again, feeling confused.

Dean was going to wait however long he had to until Jackie woke up. If that meant that he would have to spend an uncomfortable night in the chair he was currently sitting in, then he would. He hadn't even noticed that Reese had been in there eariler. The sleep deprivation was catching up to him, but he forced himself to stay awake and alert while Jackie was lying there. He was looking at Jackie, but it was as if his focus was somewhere else. That was until he noticed her move. Dean looked directly at her, causing his eyes to meet hers. He couldn't tell what was going on, but he sat up a little straighter, then leaned toward her bed, noticing that he was still holding on to her hand. "You're awake," Dean said with a light smile. "How are you feeling?"

He was so calm in the middle of the chaos that it relaxed her, just for a moment. She noticed their hands entwined, and wondered, just in the brief moment where the mind remembers the waking world, that maybe she had only dreamed they were fighting.
And that thought alone caused her to frown, which brought everything back... Zoe, the Hogsmeade attack, him carrying her here.
"I'm fine," she said, her eyes never leaving his. "Are you okay?"

He was studying her eyes, seeing if he could see something that she wasn't telling him, but Jackie was doing a good job and keeping things unreadable or maybe it was just that he wasn't fully aware.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," Dean said. It was partially a lie, and his face and eyes said as much, but in the sense of being hurt from the attack, he really was alright. He used his free hand to rub his eyes. "You're not hurting or anything are you?"

He was tired, if nothing else. She didn't know how long she had been asleep, but it was obvious that Dean had been with her the whole time. She looked him over, making sure he wasn't actually hurt. Satisfied, her eyes met his again and she shook her head.
"I'm not hurting. You can leave." She couldn't deny that it made her feel better to know he'd been with her, but would he have been so close to Zoe had something happened to her? What if they were both in the hospital wing? Would Dean have chosen her to stay with?

"I'm not going to leave," said Dean with a hint of stubbornness in his voice. "I'm going to stay." He didn't care if he was tired or hungry, or whatever else, he was going to stay right there with Jackie.
If Zoe had been there, yes, he would have helped get her out and made sure that she was alright, but he more than likely would have stayed at Jackie's bedside. He wasn't going to leave her, and he was going to do what she told him. Dean wasn't going to let her chase him off right now.

Jackie took a deep breath, pulling her hand from his. She suspected he would do this, but she didn't know if she was relieved by it or not.
"They probably need this bed," she said, making up excuses. If she could get to Gryffindor, she could be away from him. "And I'm feeling better, so I should give it up."
She dropped his gaze by now, mostly because she realized how much she missed him and how messed up the whole thing was, on both sides. But she was too stubborn to let go.

Once Jackie pulled her hand from his, Dean frowned. Right now, he was too tired to care if she saw his emotions on his face.
"No," he said stubbornly. "You still need to rest. Just because you wake up and think you feel better doesn't mean anything. You have to take it easy." Dean removed his hand from the bed. He knew that she wasn't going to hold it again. "And you're not going anywhere right now. No arguments."

Jackie frowned. "All right." She still felt achey and tired anyway, and she knew that he was right. She also knew on the rare occasions when he took a stand against her, like now with the no arguments, he didn't back down.
"I'll stay then. But you should go."

Dean was relieved that Jackie wasn't going to put up a fight against him in her staying in the hospital wing. He knew that she still needed rest.
"I'm not going anywhere," he said with a shake of his head. "I'm not going to leave you alone. Besides if I leave you'll attempt to slip off." Dean gave her a light smile. "I have to make sure that you get plenty of rest and get completely better again."
