"It's beautiful out," Kyle commented, then shivered. "But a little chilly. Are you warm enough?"
Gazing up at the black, moonless sky, he could see thousands of stars twinkling at him from above and he realized that his shiver was not from the cold. It was a new moon. And vampires loved the new moon. The moon, with its bright light, was like a beacon in the sky, making it easier to spot suspicious activity. But without it, it was easier for them to stalk their prey.
He decided right then and there that they should not linger, but hurry to the movies as quickly as possible.

Amelia looked out at the sky as well, not fearing the things that Kyle did. "It is lovely. Is this part of your charm, you make the nights enticing?" She looked over at him and smiled, walking a little faster to keep up with his quickening step. "I'm plenty warm, thank you." It was sweet that Kyle was being such a gentleman, but Amelia had had many years of practice being alone and looking out after herself. She knew when it would be chilly outside and she would need a warmer cloak. She had planned ahead, as she did most everyday.
They reached the theater in no time, and Kyle's unspoken fears seemed a moot point now. Amelia wasn't bothered by the pace, only that they hadn't spent more time under the blanket of stars. Her expertise was in catching wizards, not vampires or other creatures of the night. She knew the dangers but they weren't as pronounced in her head as they must have been in Kyle's. They waited in a short line to get to the ticket booth, and when they finally reached the front Amelia grinned at him. "I suppose I'll let you get these, since we agreed on it," she said playfully.

Kyle felt some of the tension start to ease as they arrived at the movie theater. It was fairly crowded, so the place seemed to be doing a good business. People were talking excitedly about the movie, among other things. Between the positive atmosphere and Amelia's enthusiasm, Kyle couldn't help but smile. All thoughts of vampires--and the child vampire--were quickly chased from his mind.
"Absolutely," he said. "A deal's a deal." He winked at her, then turned back to the man behind the counter and ordered two tickets for the movie they had chosen. Taking out a small pouch containing all of his coins, he counted out the right amount and handed it to the clerk, who handed him two tickets.
Kyle gave one of the tickets to Amelia, then nodded over at the snack counter. "So what do you think? Popcorn?"

Amelia smirked as she stood beside him, watching him pay. She wasn't accustomed to letting anyone pay for her, but Kyle seemed to be the opposite. They had compromised well, which foreshadowed good things to come, hopefully. When Kyle handed her the ticket, she took it. "Popcorn is a must." Even though they had just eaten, it would be weird to watch a movie (or interact in one) without popcorn.

Kyle nodded. "I agree. It's just not a movie without popcorn," he replied.
They walked over to the refreshment counter, and Kyle ordered a large popcorn and two small butterbeers. He paid for these as well, glad that they had been able to work out such a simple compromise. It was pointless to argue about such things.
Handing her one of the butterbeers, they moved over to stand in the line waiting to get into the theater. "So, where do you like to sit? In the front, middle, or back?"

She didn't like having to crane her neck up at the large screen while trying to watch a movie, so she definitely wanted to sit in the back. "The back," she said as the line started moving and they were admitted into the large theatre along with a rather large group of other people. Amelia didn't know what to expect but was ready for the fun to begin. "There some good seats." Amelia pointed to two seats toward the rear of the theatre that were open. She scooted past the few others in the row and plopped into the empty chair.
"I had no idea this was so popular," she commented on the number of people around them. As she set her drink into the cup holder attached to the arm of her chair, the lights dimmed signaling the start of the movie. Amelia sat up in her chair, anxious for the experience.

Kyle fixed his eyes on the screen in front of him and waited as music started up from somewhere. At first the screen turned black, then little points of light appeared, like stars. Words ran across the screen, setting up the story. So far, it all seemed like a normal muggle movie.
But then the screen zoomed in on a space ship, and something happened. Instead of looking at the ship on the screen, they were inside it. All around them, figures were walking around as if they weren't even there. Instead of merely watching the movie from the outside, they were watching from the inside. They were part of the movie, yet not. As a man dressed all in black approached them, Kyle wondered what would happen if he stuck out his foot to trip the man.

Amelia watched the screen, glancing over at Kyle just before the words appeared. Her eyes raced to catch them all as she missed the first bit. And then suddenly they were in the midst of the giant spacecraft that had just been on the screen, and Amelia's thoughts were very close to Kyle's. She reached out toward one of the men near the board of buttons and lights, tapping him on the shoulder. The man turned and looked at her.
"What?" he said coarsely.
"Oh," she said, having not expected him to feel real, nor respond to her. She laughed, her face reddening a bit. She leaned over to Kyle. "This is amazing," she whispered and watched what the man in black was doing.

Kyle nodded in agreement. He was stunned as they watched what unfolded before them. They were part of it, rather than merely watching on a screen. The man in black kidnapped a young woman in white, and two robots--one small and one tall and golden--escaped in a small pod. When they had both climbed inside the pod, they asked Kyle to push the button for them, so that they could be ejected from the ship.
When the little pod landed, suddenly, the atmosphere in the theater changed. It became very hot and dry, and there was sand all around them. Kyle was glad they had drinks, or they would have been parched.
