[Seth Inophen]

Seth glared at Severus as he made snide remarks one after the other. Seth really wasn't one to judge by age, house, or bloodline, but this "All high and mighty" attitude from a second year was really getting on Seth's nerves. What did he know about Maxi, nothing, therefor, Snape had no right to talk about her like that. It made Seth's temper boil.

Which is why as Snape turned, Seth grabbed a book that another student must have left in the common room, and threw it at Snape, barely missing his right ear.

Then Seth mentally slapped himself, Idiot.

Severus stopped dead in his tracks. His temper was nothing to trifle with, So with all his might he thought of the spell he had been creating since before his first year, before Natalie, Levi corpus Granted it was his first time really trying the Nonverbal spell, but he was certain it would work and certain that it would hit, he had been paying very close attention to both Professors Rothschild. "How dare you!" Severus was livid, he was pushed around by meaner men than this boy and he dared to do what only meaner men did before. He wasn't going to take it.

Sam gaped at Seth for throwing the book at Severus but when Severus returned his spell she was out of her seat gasping slightly.

"Severus...please put him down." she asked calmly. She liked Severus from their potions classes, he let her hover sometimes and watch him do potions which she was admittedly bad at but had gotten better with since following his example. She had told her ex-tutor about him and the man had a hoot after his initial curiosity.

But now watching the power that the young boy possessed caused her to see the other side, the breaking point of being pushed around and she could relate, whether he would ever believe that or not.

She had never treated Severus with anything but respect and upon occasion tried to stir some humor into their conversation, so the respect in her voice wouldn't have been construed as false or contrived, " That was a bloody stupid thing for him to have done, " she glanced up at Seth, "And have missed no less, but .." she gentled her voice, "He did miss...and knows better than to attempt something like that again."

Seth was immediatly swept off the ground, dangling from his feat in the air. Blood quickly fell to his head and he was eye level with the snott-nosed greese ball that Seth was positive had cast the spell. For a moment (a very brief moment, given the current circumstance) Seth was quite impressed that the second year could preform a nonverbal spell. Then the blood that rushed to his head began to make his temple throb and Seth remembered how pissed off he was. He grabbed his wand that was just barely clinging to his back pocket and pointed it at Snape. "Expelliarmus!" he shouted, dissarming the boy with the first spell that came to mind.
"How dare I?" Seth asked. "How dare you? You don't have a right to talk about my friends like that, especially Maxi," He gripped his wand tight and at the ready and silently wondered if anyone else in the room would take a side in this matter, and if so, would it be Snape's side or Seth's?

As Sam spoke, Seth caught her eye and felt slightly ashamed with himself. He knew this wasn't like him and he had lost his bloody temper, but God help him if he was just going to take the beating for it.

Severus grit his teeth and waited " As Long as he knows it! Do you think Lucius's Hair turned colors on it's own? Who do you think Spiked the breakfast Juice last year? Did you Honestly think it was Lucius?" Admittedly he hadn't been very proud of spiking the Gryffindor's juice last year, but now, since it was his wit and his strengths that did it, he was proud. He didn't care if his wand was out of his hand.
"I do dare! You are No one to trifle with me! You can't do a quarter of what I can do, the only way you'd beat me, is the way I am right now!" he roared it, but then he was sure that even wand less he would fight like hell, he would just have to be quicker.

People were seriously blind sometimes. There was only so much crap a person was willing to take before they acted out and Sam knew from experience that acting out could have consequences.

When Seth disarmed Snape, Sam walked to where the boy's wand was and picked it up then brought it back to Snape.

The fight was over wasn't it?

Sam wasn't taking sides, because she could see Seth's side as well, she hated that the boy was persecuted for liking Maxi, but the point was Seth was older and he had started the physical battle, not that really Sam could blame him if his temper had been at the breaking point either.

"That was...impressive Severus." she said sincerely, "Very impressive."

Seth wondered what spell it was that had him dangling like this. He struggled for a bit, feeling like a fish caught on a line. Then he gave up. "Oh for sakes let me down Snape," Seth said, not a demand, but not begging either. He was truely sick of the dizzy feeling he was getting from hanging upside down.

Severus took his wand, with less of a swipe than he wanted to, but he controlled himself up until this point . He made a cutting swipe with his wand and Inophen fell. He felt that Montgomery was ego stroking him, he wanted to resent it, but he needed allies in this fight and if she was offering one, even a tenuous one, he would need to take it.
"I'm leaving for now, I'll have you know, That I can more than make your life hell... I could slip you anything, any time, in anything " he was exaggerating a little, but he wasn't going to back down from this. "Thank you very much...Samantha." he gave her a little bow and turned back to a currently unmoving Rosier.

She glanced at Seth while Snape made his threat and worried for his friend at the same time he understood the boy next to him so well and when he thanked her she was close to blushing, she wasn't sure what she had done that deserved her thanks. Oh his wand! So she nodded. She wasn't happy that the fight had started in the first place and she hadn't really picked sides at all except the one that was "preventing" it.

She was quiet however until he was gone, and he wondered if there would be a retaliation for the pranks the boy had pulled in the past or if they were in the past. It was one thing to know your assailant silently, and another to have that assailant be a twelve year old boy who had just shouted that he had bested you. He wished Severus luck and at the same time really doubted he needed it.

When he was gone she went to Seth's side, "You okay Inophen?" she asked crouching by him and picking up a few of the things that had fallen out of his pockets.

Severus let Seth go, and he fell with a thud, landing on his head. But he recovered quickly, rolling to his feet and dusting his robes off. He knew he had to leave before his temper took over again. Normally, it was easy to keep in check, but what with his parents' letter about how much of an embarrassment he was and the letter from his brother Jarrod telling him that they were going to have to have a talk, Snape just picked the wrong night to get on Seth's nerves.

He looked over to Samantha, "Sorry Sam," he apologized, hoping he took her apology. He had acted like an ass, and she'd seen it, and he was truely sorry. "I shouldn't have done that... stupid me..." he collected the thing he had dropped from her and re-pocketed them. "Thanks," he said quietly.

After apologizing to Sam, Seth walked past her and the rest of them and up to the boys dorm, closing the door and amazingly not slamming it. He sat on his bed and put his head in his hands, breathing deeply. He needed to calm down.

She took his quick apology and then the rush up the stairs for a "not really" but she imagined he'd sort it out. The kid had character which was admirable. She sighed and returned to her seat seeing who was left in their quickly dwindling party.

Managing a smile she shrugged the event that had just happened and eyed the rest of them for whatever was next on the list of exciting things to do today.

[Ophelia Burke]

Ophelia had watched all of this silently, an amused grin on her face. Really, she thought the whole thing was quite childish and immature, yet very entertaining. To make her point, she began to clap. "Bravo," she said, smirking. "That little display was very... interesting."

Sam's eyes shot to Ophelia a little surprised but she shrugged, " I'm glad you thought so." she said tilting her head.

Amusing, childish, those may have been the words if either of the two kids who had engaged in the fight did this sort of thing regularly.Seth usually could keep his cool, and Sev...well Samantha had never heard Severus acting out although she knew that he had done a few "pranks" with his potions before, but that spell was done nonverbally by a second year...that was a little more than amusing it was brilliant in her opinion.

[Noah Malfoy]

Slow claps formed in the room. "That had to have been the most entertaining thing I had seen all day," Noah was truly impressed, and was silently thankful that Rosier had made him start listening to their side of the conversation. Severus had handled his part of the battle well, and Seth had gotten what he did to himself, although Severus may have started the fight, Seth had taken it to a new level. He gave a half smile to the room and stood up, "I truly haven't ever seen a fight go with such a creschendo so quickly."

Samantha glanced at Noah, well at least some people were amused by the debacle, she couldnt's ay that she was one of those people, but then again perhaps it was because duels made her nervous in general. Fights could make her break out in a cold sweat if they were done properly.

Noah noticed Samantha's slight look, and shrugged. "Do you really believe that something like this wasn't going to happen? We'd been on Inophen's case for a good while before he finally decided to act. Telling peoplle to stop isn't a magic word, love. Don't tell me you didn't know that. Nice reflexes, Serverus."

Noah slunk back on the couch. "No one will top that for the night."

[Severus Snape]

Severus gave Noah a stiff nod, He wondered if Rosier was going to go with him now. He turned to him and said "Oi, what happened to you? You've forgotten to breath? I just gave that prat Inophen what he had coming." he gave Rosier a smack on the chest to get him to react.

Evan was more than a little dumbfounded by the outburst on both sides. He really didn't think Seth had it in him to attack anyone like that. And he knew Severus had a temper but that spell... Evan muttered as he got to his feet. "Yeah, right, yeah." He nodded to the rest of the group, even Seth, and then followed Severus. "What was that spell? You've got to show me how you did that."

Severus shrugged "It's been something I've been working on..." he left it at that, he wasn't ready to tell anyone how it was done, He was pleased and surprised that he was able to do it himself. Maybe he'd let Rosier know later how it was done, but he decided to play that close to vest yet, he needed and edge over Inophen in case he tried something else, he was going to lord it over him because he felt he deserved it.
