Karen smiled softly. She was not going to pressure Ted in any way, and if he needed the support of his family, then she was not going to deny him that. And although she could still tell that he was unhappy, he already seemed better, just having the chance to unburden his soul to her. And of course, there had always been rumors that her apple pie had healing properties.
"Of course you can have another piece," she said, beaming at him. As far as she was concerned, the subject was dropped unless he was ready to bring it back up again. "You're looking a bit too thin these days, anyway. I don't suppose wizard food can compare to a good home-baked pie."

Ted didn't tell his mother that he simply hadn't been eating the last few weeks. That wasn't what she wanted to hear, he was sure. Besides, she wasn't the first one to tell him that he was too thin anyway.
"No, correction, Mum. There is nothing to compare to *you're* home baked pie," he replied, getting another slice of pie.
"Can I get either of you two anything?"
