The Plot
The year is 1973, and the Marauders (James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter) are midway through their second year at Hogwarts. While they are becoming friends and are "up to no good," Lord Voldemort is rising in power in the wizarding world. He already has many followers, and there have already been some Death Eater attacks. Some have died. Dumbledore is aware of the problem and is watching it carefully, as Voldemort grows ever more powerful and evil. Now is the time to start training the students for the rebellion to come...

Voltaire's face scrunched up "Shut up! you aren't to even joke about seeing Isa alone!" an angry flush crept up his face and he stood up from the bed. If he had been interested, now he was aggravated, which put an end to his desire for his wife to woo him. He had actual turned away from Isa to rant at Charles.

"Don't give me this 'I have no control, no desire to be here' crap! you time these appearances! Only when I'm in classes or with Isa, not when I'm alone, not at dinner. Only the times I'm supposed to enjoy most! What do you want? What part of my life do you envy so much that you have to plague me! Is it because I managed to fall in love with someone you thought was yours? The fact we have a family and switched sides? What would be next on your ghostly agenda? give nightmares to our son? Or do you actually want me to believe you float in 'nothing'?!"
" Voltaire actually didn't mean half of his rant, he hadn't really been jealous or even hated Charles when he was alive, but at the mention of Charles trying to spy on his wife, Voltaire lost his sense of cool. He had actually liked Charles, or at least he felt that vauge sense that he had liked him. The anger at Charles left him feeling sick, like fighting with a brother that he had never had...and happened to be dead.

"Oh, right, I see how it is," Charles snapped. "Not wanted in life, not wanted in death.... Same bloody story. You don't want me here, I don't want to be here, so I guess I'll just go."

He spun in mid-air and walked over to the other end of the room. He walked through the wall next to the door and vanished... only to reappear again at the opposite end of the room, walking right through the wall again and into the room.

"Oh, for the sake of Salazar's front tooth!" he hissed. "I must have really cheesed off someone upstairs to deserve this fate!"

Voltaire's sudden anger drained out of him like a jug with a crack in the bottom. It was really sad to see Charles's attempt at escape from the situation, like a hamster running on its wheel.

"I'm sorry Charles, I didn't mean it...well not the spying part I meant that, but I just don't understand what is the pull in any given situation that draws you here when you say you've been in no where." It really did hurt Voltaire's head to think of Charles as dead, when his spirit seemed so clearly alive, but his body had lain in his parents down stairs parlor for an evening.

"You've really have to be with me when I have to speak St. Claire again. You remember the girl in my class, the one that spoke to you? Her father seems to have some idea of what might help you." maybe it wasn't exactly true, maybe it wasn't a lie, but at the moment Voltaire couldn't quite remember all the details of his previous conversation with Natalie's father. He sat back on the bed and looked at Isa tiredly.

He felt so drained, emotionally and physically. It was like being ill with the flu, only it had only been a short few private minutes he was supposed to have with his wife. He wondered if he looked as ill as he felt.

Isabella had pulled her robes back on underneath the blanket that Voltaire had covered her with. She was also irritated with the interruption, but perhaps now was the time to deal with the problem.

"Darling, I could go find Wesley and bring him down here," she said. "Assuming Charles can stay put long enough, this really might be the best time to see if he can figure this out. Who knows when he'll pop up again?"

Charles was looking deflated. "Apology accepted, mate. I'm sure if our situations were reversed, I'd be pretty wound up meself."

He let out a depressed sigh, but seemed to brighten when Isabella spoke up. Leave it to her ti take charge of the situation and try to help.

Merlin, he'd have thought being dead would have helped him to get over her, but that didn't seem to be the case. He still longed for her, the same as always.

"Tell her thanks," he said. "I think I can stay put. Unless something decides to send me away again, I've no plans for tea."

Voltaire sighed as well and gave Charles an ironic smile. "Good to know Charles."
Turning back to Isabella he smiled and said "Have I told you lately that I love you?" he paused as Charles answered her question

"He said 'thanks' and that he hasn't got plans for tea."

he grew a bit sulky at the thought of having to involve Wesley, but he would know more about this than he did, and that wasn't really saying much. He straightened himself out, swept off the wrinkles from his robes and kissed Isa goodbye before saying as he walked out the door. "Behave yourself Charles, I'll be back in two and two." and he reached the door and un-hexed it and walked out.

Isabella had actually intended for her to go find Wesley, and for Voltaire to stay with Charles. It seemed somehow necessary for someone to babysit Charles. But since she couldn't see him, that left Isa alone in the room with the invisible ghost of a man who had once been in love with her.

It was a highly uncomfortable feeling.

"So... Charles...." she began uncertainly, looking at where she believed Charles was, unaware that he was actually on the other side of the room. "Um.... I suppose it would be useless to ask you how you've been."

Charles actually laughed at this, not that anyone who was present could hear it. It wasn't like he could have a conversation with Isabella; she couldn't hear him or see him. What, then, was the purpose? Why in the bloody hell was he here?

And then, suddenly, he wasn't. He felt a strange pull behind his navel, or what would have been his navel, yanking him through the air and taking him Merlin only knew where.
