A day had passed since the kidnapping, and Trevor reluctantly decided to check on Pavel and the girl. They had to get a proper ransom note to Pavel's wife, and soon. Pavel wanted his wife back, Trevor just wanted his money. He hoped Pavel's father would pay as handsomely as promised... it was the only reason he allowed himself to get caught up in this messy business. If this went on much longer, he was going to have to work hard to make sure Celia didn't find out what he was up to.
Trevor apparated to the warehouse and made his way inside. "Pavel!" he yelled, stifling a yawn. "You doing OK in here? We need to work on the ransom note and come up with a meeting place. I'm ready to get this thing over with."

Pavel was dozing off at the desk in the office. He duck taped Danica to the chair she was in, but left her mouth free - she had promised to shut up after all. Splinters of wood from the chair still littered the floor, Pavel had no interest in picking it up.
When Trevor called out, Pavel groaned and tossed and turned a bit before sitting up and stretching, his back cracking. He was looking forward to getting this over with and sleeping in his bed again, with his wife at his side this time.
"In here," he called out.

Dani had been awake for a couple of hours, trying to use the time when Pavel was asleep to escape. But Godric, this tape was stronger than a binding spell.
When she saw Trevor come in, she was quiet for a moment, but in typical Dani fashion, she couldn't stay that way. Speaking up and getting his attention, she said, " He was drinking a lot last night," almost tattling on him, as if to get him in trouble. She wasn't quite sure what her goal with this was, but of the two of these men, she liked Trevor better. She sniffles, wide eyes on him.

Trevor stopped in the doorway, taking in the sight of Pavel, and then the little girl still bound to the chair. He actually didn't need Dani to tattle on Pavel, the pungent odor of alcohol hung heavily in the air. Frankly, it disgusted Trevor. And the git wondered why his wife had left him?
He shook his head and tsked. "Now, that's not very smart of you," he said, eying Pavel. "You want to be sober when you meet your wife. It's a lucky thing for you I brought coffee."
Actually, Pavel needed more than coffee. He needed a shower, a shave, and a change of clothes. They didn't exactly have the facilities for that in the abandoned warehouse.
"Has the girl been to the loo yet?" he added, nodding at Danica. "She's going to wee herself if you don't let her."

Pavel stared at Trevor for a moment. "I'm sober," he said, unconvincingly. He took the coffee and grunted in approval. When he asked Pavel about Danica going to the bathroom, he realized he hadn't and grunted again, placing the coffee on the desk and then going over to her and removing the duct tape so she could stand. "Go," he said shortly, pointing to the bathroom across the office.

Trevor raised an eyebrow at him, clearly indicating his doubt. No, Trevor was no stranger to alcohol, and he knew perfectly well that Pavel was anything but sober.
"You're hungover, that's not the same as being sober," Trevor said pointedly.
He watched as Pavel untied the girl, allowing her to make her way over to the bathroom. Honestly, the muggle had no sense at all... he was making it too easy for the girl to attempt an escape. So he moved closer to the girl, letting her know that he would stop her if she tried to run.
And yet, as he looked at the girl's small face, he felt a flash of... sympathy. It came as a shock, even to Trevor. He didn't like kids; he had no experience with them. As far as he was concerned, she was just another job. But something about those big brown eyes threatened to get to him. He'd have to make sure he didn't look her in the eyes.

"Its close enough," Pavel grunted. What the heck did he know anyway. Show the guy a few magic tricks and he thinks he's better than you!
"Hurry up," he barked at his daughter. She was taking too long. This whole damn thing was taking too long. Once Danica was in the bathroom he turned to Trevor. "So now what?" Oh right a ransom note. He wasn't sure what to put in a ransom note, he'd never written one before.

Honestly, Trevor was beginning to think he was going to have to do this all himself. Pavel was useless.
Stationing himself outside the bathroom to catch Danica when she came back out, Trevor looked back at Pavel and sighed. "Yes, a ransom note. Now, you've already told her that you've got the girl and that you'd give her more information later. Now you have to tell her what you want and where you want her to meet you. And you have to tell her to come alone. Think you can do that?" he added condescendingly.

Dani had glared at Pavel as he walked by him. She didn't have the energy to do much more than that. She definitely wasn't feeling well.
And then there was the issue of Trevor. Dani definitely didn't like the man, and she was torn. If she had the option to choose who was holding her captive, her first instinct was Trevor. He seemed nicer. But he was smarter, too. Which meant that Pavel was the better person to be with. That, an Trevor had a hand up with magic on his side.
She sighed, closing and locking the bathroom door behind her. She had little interest in using the facilities- instead, she looked around. The only door was the one she just locked. There was a window, but it was well out over reach. Frustrated, she climbed up onto the toilet, and then the sink. From here, she could at least reach the window. She looked around for anything else to stand on, and hoped they were on the first floor of she did make it to the window.

Pavel pulled a notepad from his bag and sat at the desk, tapping the pen to the page a couple times before scribbling out a note to his wife.
"There's a park down the way here," Pavel said as he wrote the note. "I'll meet her there, You stay here with Danica." He said. The letter was short and to the point. Meet him in the park, come alone and without her wand, and everything would work out just fine. Soon enough he'd have his family back where they belonged, and he'd lock up their magic bullsh*t for good.
"Oy hurry up in there!" Pavel yelled at the bathroom door.

Trevor nodded impatiently, looking between Pavel and the bathroom door. He knew where the park was, and it was just about the right distance away. The warehouse district was along the docks, and the park, which bordered a prettier section of the river, was just about the only thing close by. It was an open location, which meant that it would be difficult to control. But on the other hand, the openness would be safer, because no one would be able to do magic.
"It sounds like a plan," Trevor said. He wasn't sure he liked the idea of being alone with the girl while Pavel met with his wife, but it made more sense than leaving her here.
"Give the letter to me and I'll send it by owl. It's faster than your muggle mail."

He grumbled to himself slightly about training birds to carry letters, but he handed the paper to him. "When will it get to her?"
He looked around the office for a minute before banging on the door to the bathroom again. The weak lock snapped an the door swung open, revealing Danica standing on the counter. "What do you think you're doing," he laughed, despite his anger, he laughed. "Go on, crawl out the window I dare you, it's a two story drop onto concrete Princess."

Dani jumped when the door flew open, and she reached her hand out, pressing it against the dirty glass of the mirror to steady herself from falling.
His laughing frustrated her and made her angry. She needed to escape, but all he had to do was tell her that they were not on the first floor, and that was it for her. She did her best to hide her near paralyzing fear of knowing now how high up they were... two stories was really high for her.
She sniffled, more from the cold she was sure she was getting than anything else, and gave a longing look at the window before turning back to her father. "Fine. I still have to go," she announced, pointing at the toilet.

"Should have thought about that before trying to run away, shouldn't you have?" Pavel growled, grabbing her arm and pulling her back into the room and placing her on the chair. "Don't move," He said to her, having no effort to tie her up again.
"So when should I expect to hear back from her?" He asked Trevor.

Trevor rolled his eyes again and began to study his fingernails as though they were the most fascinating things he had ever seen. Hopefully soon, he thought miserably to himself. He would be very glad when he could wash his hands of this muggle git. This whole thing was turning out to be more trouble than it was worth.
"Probably by the end of the day," he drawled, still not looking at Pavel. "Just give me the letter."

Pavel handed the letter over to Trevor without a word, checking his watch and shrugging. He was supposed to be holding a meeting for his business later today. Hee needed a shower and about ten more cups of coffee to make his headache go away.
He also had to figure out what to do with Danica while he was gone. But he figured he'd just leave her in the office, lock the door so she couldn't get out. She already looked out the window and knew she couldn't escape that way. "I have a meeting in a few hours." he said shortly to Trevor. "Go send that with your bloody pigeon, let me know when she replies."

Trevor's eyes were on an almost permanent rotation around Pavel. For Salazar's sake, how was it possible for someone to be such a clueless prat? He made a mental note to tell Pavel's father to double whatever he was paying him, just for the irritation of dealing with this git.
"As you wish," he said sarcastically, glaring at Pavel for a moment before giving a quick, assessing look at the girl. Something about those liquid brown eyes kept threatening to get to him, so it was best that he spent as little time as possible around her.
"I'll check in later when I have a reply."
He turned and walked out quickly, before the girl's trembling lower lip made him feel guilty.

Pavel headed into the bathroom and washed his face, waking up some. He changed his shirt to a clean one for his meeting and straightened a tie. When he left the bathroom he locked the door and dropped the key in his briefcase.
"Now promise Daddy you wont cause any trouble while I'm gone, or I'll have to tie you up again Danica," Pavel said, grinning over to the little girl.
