(To note: This starts at the school, but I didn't feel like breaking up the thread). ----
After her last class for the evening, Dani practically ran back to her dorm room, throwing open her trunk and ditching her school bag, not really caring that an inkwell fell out. She just hoped it wouldn't leak by the time she got back.
Tonight was important. Henri was going to watch her mother play at Ambrosia. And while Dani often snuck out to watch her mother play, tonight she wanted to watch something different entirely. The way her mum had spoken about her Henri at lunch... it meant something. Danica was obviously curious, and who could blame her?
She rooted around in her trunk until she grabbed her cloak, ignoring anyone else in the room. She was too excited for this to let anyone bother her. Soon enough, she was starting towards the door.

But maybe Danica should have paid more attention to who else might have been in the room. Lulu was there, on her bed, reading when Dani came in and began rooting around in her trunk. She put her book down and sat up, watching the girl through narrowed eyes. Clearly, Dani was up to something, and Lulu wanted to know exactly what it was.
She saw the girl pull out her cloak and head for the door.... which meant she was going out. As in, outside. Oh, yeah, this was going to be good.
"You know, it's against the rules to go outside after dark," she said loudly.

"It should be against the rules to be as annoying as you are, too," Dani replied, not even looking over her shoulder as she left the room. She didn't care at all what Lulu said to her. She wasn't a prefect or a teacher or anything like that. And even if she told on her, what was the worst that could happen? They'd give her a detention, probably, but she'd be back in time for classes, and she didn't see the harm in it.
So she started down the stairs to the common room, naively thinking that Lulu would just disappear if she ignored her enough.

But Lulu wasn't about to give up that easily. She jumped down from her bed and ran after Danica. It didn't seem fair to her that Danica was just allowed to walk out all the time. She got to go out to lunches with her mother, or spend weekends with her, and now she could just go outside after dark? It wasn't fair.
"Where are you going? I just said you can't go out. Are you stupid or something? If you go out, I'm telling, and you'll get in trouble again. I bet your mom wouldn't be happy about that."

Dani rolled her eyes to herself, turning back to Lulu.
"I'm going to see my mum, okay, so it's already been okayed with Dumbledore." She lied. if Lulu thought this was already cleared, she'd be angry about it, but what could she do?
"And don't talk about what makes my mum happy. You don't know here. So... I'll see you tomorrow."
She flashed a grin, thought not a friendly one. She just wanted out, because she was anxious, and she didn't want to deal with Lulu anymore.

Lulu scowled. It wasn't entirely unusual for Danica to spend the weekend with her mother. In fact, she did it nearly every weekend. And it was a Friday night. Of course, usually when she was staying for the weekend, she would bring a bag and not just her cloak. And Professor McGonagall would escort her down to the entrance hall to meet her mother.
"Then how come you're not bringing an overnight bag?" Lulu said, now moving over to block Danica's way. "And where's Professor McGonagall? Isn't she supposed to take you down?"

"Merlin, you're so nosey," Dani said before she could stop herself. Henri was probably already at her mother's restaurant, and she was positively itching to find out what was going on. Why did Lulu have to be here?
"I have stuff at my mum's, and McGonagall is going to meet me there. Okay?" She put a hand on her hip, looking like a little girl who was trying to look much more grown up than she was,

Lulu let out a loud breath. She didn't have a very good reason why she didn't want Danica to go; in fact, she really had every reason to want her gone. If she went to be with her mum for the weekend, that would mean Lulu wouldn't have to deal with her. Maybe she could even figure out some way to move her bed back to where it belonged again.
But it really bugged Lulu to see Dani go off with her mum all the time. Lulu's parents didn't bring her home every weekend. In fact, sometimes they were too busy going on separate vacations--Dad with his new girlfriend in Hawaii, or Mum with some rich diplomat in Switzerland--to bring Lulu home for Christmas break. They just sent presents, as if that could make up for the attention she craved.
"Fine!" she said angrily, stomping her foot. "Go, then. See if I care. I hope you don't come back!"

"I will! I hope I come back and you're not here anymore!" Dani wasn't really that great with comebacks, but when you're 11, you don't really need to be. Just fighting and sounding mean was often enough to do damage. Little did she know, Lulu was about to get her wish.
She turned in a huff, glad that at least Lulu wasn't fighting her anymore. "Have a really boring weekend, Tallulah!"
And she was gone, headed for the secret passage that Sirius showed her. It would get her to Hogsmeade, where she could go to Diagon Alley and then to Ambrosia in London from there.
Hoping she heard the last of Lulu, Dani slipped out of the castle.
It was a good hour before she stumbled onto the streets in Muggle London, taking off her cloak and folding it over her arm. Muggles didn't really use cloaks, and she knew that. Rita would let her stash it in the back when she got there.
She entered Ambrosia through the main door, knowing that she only had to smile at the girl in the front who seated people, and then she would be mostly ignored, as long as she stayed out of the way. As predicted, the girl returned her smile and nodded, indicating that she was okay to head into the back.
(I hope all this works....)

It was a Friday night, and usually Trevor would be here with Celia on his arm. Friday night was the night to see and be seen at Ambrosia, and he loved parading Celia and her glittering jewels before all the other influential eyes of the wizarding elite.
Why, then, was Trevor sitting in Ambrosia with a man--a muggle, no less--who spoke with a thick Czech accent? Well, during his past few weeks at Ambrosia, he had noticed the little girl who managed to sneak into the club to visit the woman who played the piano. She seemed to come most often on Friday nights, and he quite suspected that tonight would be much the same. And when he realized who the girl was, he called up one of his old contacts. Now he had to smuggle one Pavel Novak into Ambrosia, so that he could reclaim what was rightfully his.
When the girl slipped in through the main door, Trevor, always observant, noticed her immediately. Nudging his companion, he nodded to the girl. "There she is, mate," he whispered, keeping his voice low enough that the woman behind the bar wouldn't hear.

The place made him uncomfortable. Pavel was not a fan of the whole magical community. They were freaks, all of them, mutants or people who belonged in a circus. There was a reason he forbade Aurielia to use her wand in their household.
He was sitting at the bar with Trevor, a man who Pavel thought he hadn't needed to contact ever again after his father dealt with the Henri issue. The bar was darker than the rest of the place and Pavel felt well hidden. He didnt want to be recognized right away.
As Trevor nudged him, Pavel looked up. Indeed, in walked a little girl, big eyes, brown hair, she looked a lot like Aurielia did when they were younger. "There she is," Pavel agreed, his Czech accent rolling smoothly off his tongue. There wasn't a doubt in his mind that that little girl was his Danica.
Now where is her mother?

Where was Rita? Dani was by the door for a moment, just looking at who was working the floor. Tonight was special, and she was pretty sure Aurelia would act differently around Henri if she knew that her daughter was watching. So she needed Rita's help to stay *really* out of the way tonight.
She approached the bar, not paying attention to anyone, really. No one had ever bothered her here, except the grouchy cook, so she had no reason to be too concerned with the patrons.
"Mike," she whispered quietly, climbing up on one of the stools.
"Get down," the younger bartender said quickly. "You can't be at the bar, Dani. You know that."
"I know. Hey, is Rita working tonight?"
The young man nodded, telling Dani that Rita would arrive in about an hour, and then telling her to go again. He leaned in, trying to keep the customers at the bar from hearing as he told her to go in the back.
"I can't yet," she replied. "My mum's back there and this is a surprise." Of sorts.

Trevor groaned. He generally had no use for children, and no taste for kidnapping. He probably wouldn't have bothered letting Pavel know about the whelp if not for the rather large sum of money that Pavel's father had promised him if he ever located the girl and her mother. Trevor would do just about anything for money.
"Look, if you're going to do this, you'd better do it fast. There are already too many witnesses. I can cause a distraction, if necessary, but you'd better have an exit strategy."

Pavel nodded, but it seemed an exit stradegy was more difficult then he tought. The Bartendor, the hostess up front...it seemed that everyone knew Danica.
But Trevor was right, it was now or never, and more and more people were comming in. "Okay," Pavel said, polishing off his drink first. "I'll do it, cause a distraction will you, i need to make sure as little people are looking at her as possible." He heard her talking to the bartender. "Quick, while her mother is still in back."

Trevor nodded. He knew of only one way to get people running wildly and forgetting all that was going on around them. In the chaos, Pavel could snatch the girl and no one would even have time to notice.
Smiling coldly, he pulled out his wand and whispered the curse that had been taught him by the Dark Lord... "Morsmordre."
From his wand a green jet of light erupted and shot towards the ceiling. Glowing green smoke began to fill the room forming into the shape of the Dark Mark.
"Do it now," he hissed, and slipped away unnoticed.

Pavel nodded. Trevor sent the glowing snake-skull thing in the air and for a moment he was a little too shocked to move. He then realized that that thing was causing chaos and Trevor was already gone. Danica was two seats away from him.
"Come on," he said, snatching the little girl's arm and heading out the door. Anyone who saw them would just assume he was getting Danica out of danger. Perfect.

Dani's attention had been drawn away from the bartender when it seemed like chaos suddenly broke out. She looked at the dark sign, and then someone was dragging her out. She didn't even look him, but pulled against him. It was no use... he was very tall and much stronger than Dani, who'd always been a very small girl for her age.
"No, wait, my mum's in there," she said, trying to get him to stop.
He was still dragging her, and she turned to look at him to make him understand that they had to go back.
Her mouth opened, but for a moment, no sound came out. Images of her mother being hit flashed in her mind, one of the few memories she actually had of Pavel. Had she been older, logic would have told her that she was mis-remembering, that it couldn't be him. But a very child-like and real fear filled her features.
She screamed, but it was lost among the other screams and commotion in the restaurant.

It was harder to drag her behind him as more chaos consumed. Pavel tugged her along until they were 3 or 4 buildings away from the resturant. Danica was screaming and he knew she had recognized him.
"Shut up," he growled at her. People were bound to look at the screaming child 100 or so feet away from the chaos. But she wouldn't stop screaming. "Shut up shut up shut up girl!" he growled again, taking his free hand and slapping her across the face, not hard enough to knock her out, but enough to shock her at the very least.
"We need to get out of here," he said to himself, looking around for Trevor.

Danica yelped as he hit her and her eyes teared up. It was hard enough to hurt, especially since his hand was just so big. Everything about him was big- why didn't she remember that part?
But it worked at getting her quiet, at least for a minute as he dragged her further from the building. She wasn't sure what to do now. It was clear that she wasn't going to be able to pry herself out of his grip, and screaming was just going to get her hit again... but if someone heard... the commotion of the restaurant was quieter now, and if she screamed, she'd be the only noise heard, really.
But maybe she had something better up her sleeve. With her free hand, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her wand, pointing it at him. "Let me go," she demanded, though there was still a shake in her voice.

For a moment, Pavel froze, looking at the wand Danica pointed at him. His demeanor didn't show it, but the idea of magic scared him. But the anger that a little child, HIS child of all people, attempted to demand anything from him out weighed the fear of her wand.
"Don't you DARE," he swatted at the wand, knocking it out of her hand and it rolled away. He took her other hand in his. "DARE point that wretched thing at me you little brat!" he hissed, more angry now than ever. He dragged her farther along, away from Ambrosia.
